Custom Abaya and Jalabiya?

Maybe some of the local women or others married to local can help?
I don't wear abaya regularly but I have some events and family gatherings where it will be appropriate to wear one.
I have a few store bought abayas but I would love to find out how/where I can have one custom made? I would also be perfectly fine choosing the shape of one in a store and then having them customize it with embroidery etc. I am just not sure where to go for this.
I also would like to find a similar store for jalabiya - do you ladies have any favorite stores?
Thanks!

Maroosh - do you have any idea how much material I would need for an abaya? Lets say not the straight simple ones but a very full one with perhaps gathering at the front? I would prefer to make them in silk rather than the synthetic because these will be special occasions around a wedding. Agree totally about jalabiya underneath feels and looks much better. I don't know how my sisters-in-law manage jeans and huge heels underneath! I need something flowy that billows out from the lower part :-) I have never bought any to be honest lol. I am planning to but never do (laziness) I wear leggings under my abaya but it's getting boring. Also do jeans and tops underneath but flat shoes only. I'm tall enough as it is!

They are usually pretty knowledgeable. It sounds easier just to go to Abu Hail and pick out an abaya. They have very fancy ones and very plain ones in all different material. They also have extremely fancy jalabeeyas on the ground floor.

There seems to be this huge abaya mall in Mirdiff, never been though. There is also Abu Hail, where you can get your abayas custom made. I have been to Souq Naif, but you need to make sure you find a decent tailor. With regards to Jalabeyat, you can get ready made ones in Souq Naif as well, all you need to do is take them to a tailor and have them made to fit you. A friend of mine goes to Bin Sougat Center, buys all her fabrics there and then takes it to a tailor who stitch the jalabeyat and add embroidery and other bell and whistles:) edited by Marroosh on 19/12/2012
