Apricot, how are you using so much liquid soap? Is it suitable for floors too and is it the washing up liquid you are using?

I buy Carrefour Lemon Liquid Soap for all household cleaning, including window washing. I buy 6 big bottles every 20 days so it has to smell pleasant and be relatively economical. Bottle has to say "Carrefour" rather than "1". It has a pleasant lemony-pineapple scent. I have bought and tried every generic lemon scented dishwashing liquid soap at Carrefour and Union Coop. I only ever bought Fairy once, and that was in my search for a sub for Dawn soap during a time when a trip to Spinneys was more convenient than a trip to Safestway. I bought both the local, opaque white Fairy and the UK Fairy. Wouldn't buy either again.

I was chatting to my mum last night about this thread and my mum told me that when she used to run out of bubble bath after running a bath for us kids, she used to squirt Fairy Liquid in the bath tub instead ! I remember making fake beards and a bikini with the bubbles ! lol ! I doubt you will get the same effect with Pril ... Must try this again .. Ill have my Dynasty Joan Collins moment in the bath tub :P Thats a great idea, I must use this in the bath for my LO. Makes note to buy Fairy mint and tea tree silver bottle. word of warning !!!!!!! it stings if you get it in your eyes ! I just remembered that !

I always buy Fairy as it makes the best bubble solution, for the children to blow bubbles with, but it has to be the green one. Lemon scented just doesn't make big bubbles! I've not tried the mint and Tea tree though; what effect does this have on bubble solution?

I love the Lime & Lemongrass fairy - so for me, Fairy all the way ;) hahaha I have used this for a few years, then Lux Sunlight active gel 2x became my favorite for the last 3 years. Finally ran out, it seems they no longer stock them, so went back to Fairy L&L. Smells great, really sudsy (in fact so sudsy that they are coming out of my floor drain!) and absolutely NO degreasing power :( How I miss my Lux SAG2x (green gel, small bottle)! If anyone sees this while you are out shopping, let me know...I will have to stock up a truck load to last me a life time :D

Thanks Redrec, I don't have to fret about a Christmas gift for the maid any longer, she'll be thrilled with that as she does worry about her rings. Hope she pop the gold bangles on there too! I would get her one for her bathroom as well, then you can put in some lovely tea tree and mint fairy liquid 'shampoo' and 'shower gel' like the one Mushypeas maid uses :) edited by Alismum on 08/12/2013 As it's Christmas , why not? Brilliant idea. And don't forget to get her the see through bottle, push the boat out a bit ;) It'll be the best Christmas ever!

ARancher your maid has diamond rings and gold bangles to sling on that dispenser? Can I come and do your dishes and earn an extra fils or two? I will bring my own sheer silver tinted Mild Tea Tree Oil scented Fairy Liquid with me. You know we'd love to have you but the maid wouldn't be happy; she's got her eye on a nice necklace;-)

Washing up liquid, laundry liquid and shampoo have the same active ingredient which is a detergent to help remove dirt. The only differences are the fragrances and of course the fancy packaging. Good tip for the poster who doesn't like the big bottles because they are too heavy to turn up is to dispense some washing up liquid into a small liquid soap pump dispenser, then it's available with just an easy press; washing up heaven! edited by A Rancher on 08/12/2013 And to aid in this great endeavor, emax has washing up liquid dispensers with bowls on either side attached to hold scrubbers and sponges. it even has a nifty hook to hold your maid's diamond rings?

Did you know there is locally made Fairy (in the white bottles) and imported Fairy (in hte clear bottles) hence the price difference. I did always wonder why the major price difference, I buy the big white ones for work, the little clear bottles for home I never knew that, I have been buying the white ones. Anyone done a comparison, is the white one watered down then? Mushypeas, I remember those fairy soap bars. [url=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2514604/Wash-hair-Fairy-Liquid-says-ex-model-JILLY-JOHNSON-60.html'>[i'>'Wash your hair with Fairy Liquid and scrub your skin with dishwasher salt,' says ex-model JILLY JOHNSON. 'At 60, I'm proof you should forget pricey products'[/i'>[/url'> Forget expensive weekly hair treatments. My top budget beauty trick is to wash my hair once a month in washing-up liquid. Yes, really. I found this out by accident a few years ago when I ran out of shampoo one day and, in desperation, headed for the kitchen sink. Astonishingly, it made my hair magnificently shiny and full of body. My hairdresser told me the washing-up liquid had removed the build-up of hairspray and conditioner that was weighing down my hair. edited by Alismum on 08/12/2013

Fairy for the dishes. Prill for baby bottles, its too mild for dishes I feel. Carrefour own brand dishwasher detergent for the machine. And Ariel colour tabs for my dark clothes. I believe this is the most exciting and relevant thread on EW that I have had the privilege of posting on (quite sure it will remain on the first page for weeks due to how many may clamor to give their two bits).

and other equally gripping discussions....... The only mildly interesting thread today lasted 5 minutes... so, I like Pril for the nice fruity scent but it's a lot thinner so probably less economical than Fairy, the favourite from home... Discuss :D ha! ha! Hands that do dishes can be soft as your face with mild green fairy liquid. Fairy all the way for me, anything else is just false economy imho :) Do you remember the big bars of Fairy Soap as a child.. Oh the smell... takes me back ! Those big green bars cleaned absolutely everything and anything :) edited by Geordie expat on 08/12/2013 My Grandfather used to wash his hair with fairy liquid. He died with a full head of hair so it must of worked? I remember carbolic soap and it smelt awful. Wouldn't be the first time I've done that too and used it when I've bathed.
