Hi sorellabella
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I know it can be stressful finding the 'perfect' dress. Just one suggestion I would make is *not* to have one made here. A friend of mine did this a few years ago and it was a disaster, even though she had seen plenty of the designer's work in a fashion show. She ended up in floods of tears days before she was due to fly out to her wedding abroad. So she just paid for the work and materials and popped into a store where she bought one off the peg instead. This worked out much cheaper too - about AED800! The shop was Ekaterina and Maria (in Lamcy, Mazaya Centre and maybe Arabian Centre) and the dress was much closer to what she wanted.
Note: At first sight this store seems to only carry very arabic-looking, ornate dresses. But if you look closely you can find some much simpler, western-looking ones. I bought a fantastic prom-style full length gown there for only AED490 and wore it to an evening wedding reception. It was very pale green and could honestly have passed as a wedding dress. You can also haggle there. Another friend bought several lovely evening dresses there recently and bargained them down.
Have fun shopping and let us know how you get on.

ETA: Obviously I can only speak based on my friend's experience. I am sure there are some good tailors in DUbai but having seen how distraught my friend was I would recommend checking anyone out thoroughly and leaving plenty of time to 'perfect' the dress before the wedding. Unfortunately I have lost faith in tailors here having seen so many botched jobs, but maybe I just went to the wrong places. I hope everyone finds the dress they are hoping for and has a fantastic day. Enjoy it!

Berna's.. She's been dressing most of the brides that I know of in Dubai... But ul need to chk if you can get a spot... She's normally fully booked...
I hv a spare size 16 if you want:)
I recently had my dress made by Pelins Tailoring, copied from a few pictures of a design I liked. It turned out beautifully and Pelin's attention to detail is absolutely second to none. She sourced all fabric samples then purchased the fabrics etc. Had quite a few fittings but that was partly as I kept wanting the train shortened and she is an absolute perfectionist in terms of fitting. Cannot recommend highly enough.

She's based in Meena Bazar which is just a little bit over from Satwa.
There are lots of wedding and evening gowns, used and new, some locally made and foreign designer gowns all for sale in Dubai at http://www.weddingdresses.ae/
Also I think there's a sale held at the Bubble al Meydan for designer gowns every so often too.

Sorry this might not be of much help, but I pass by a wedding dress store at Village Mall on the Jumeirah beach road on my way to Sugar Daddys for my monthly cupcake fix. Don't remember the name of the boutique though...
Hi So rellabella
I know it has been quite a few months since you posted this message. Just wondered if you have had any luck with your dress hunt?
I am getting married in Feb next year. I've just been back to the UK and bought some fabric, hoping to have a dress made here. Would be very interested to hear your feedback!
Thanks :)
Hello sorellabella and friends,
Hope all is going well. This might ease your hunt. I had recently met a bridal fashion designer who launched her boutique in Dubai after years of experience in US. Her name is Salam , honestly to me she creates very elegant, classic ,amazing gowns
I really adore the fine touches in her collection.
You can contact her personally she's really nice .Visit the website: [url=http://www.elizabethdinayabridals.com/ '>link[/url'>.
Keep Smiling : )
temperley, one of my all time favourite designers, now has a big wedding section in the dubai mall branch. wandered into it last week - couldn't work out why the whole section was white!
her dresses are beauitful anyway, and the antithesis of the 'big white meringue'....
I had mine made here because I could not get what I wanted. She is very experienced, English lady and I was very happy. She also did the suits for the men. My SIL is currently having hers made too and it is totally different to mine and looks amazing.
let me know if you want the details

I would agree about trying some of the high end dress shops that are maybe not officially "bridal" as lots of places have white/cream evening dresses. When I was looking about 2 years ago a shop called Cocoon in Dubai Mall had quite a few cream/white Jenny Packham dresses, and also Temperly in Dubai Mall has a small range of their bridal dresses, but also has a lot of white/cream evening dresses. Saks 5th Ave in BurJuman has a small selection of Vera Wang and Reem Acra wedding dresses (ask as they don't always put them all on display), and like twin_butterfly says, Harvey Nics has quite a decent range of evening dresses, a good few of which happen to be white/cream....
Good luck - it can be a bit of a nightmare trying to find a wedding dress in Dubai!
Have you tried wedding expos? Ive never been to one but there have been 2 in Qatar this month. Not sure if they would have dresses to try on and order?
Ahhh, every bride’s nightmare ... finding a simple and elegant dress in the UAE :) I looked around quite a bit and found nothing that suited my style so ended up buying a skirt and a top from 2 different designers , which worked beautifully (try Harvey Nichols or Boutique 1 at Mall of the Emirates, and also have a good stroll around the high-end of the Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates where all the designer shops are, if you do not mind going with a less traditional wedding look).
Not sure I would trust the tailors here with a wedding dress ... I have had pretty bad experiences where lovely silks I had bought for evening dresses were completely butchered by 2 different highly recommended tailors!
Did Pronovias offer you the option to also choose from their catalogue and have it ordered? They did when I went but I just did not want to have to wait that long ... also, have a look at dubizzle.com and souq.com – I have just checked and they do have a few things. Just beware that some of the images some of the posters use may not be close to the actual dress. If you do not mind having a second-hand, I would agree that you will probably get a good response if you post it on this forum.
Alternatively, if you do have the time I would agree – have it ordered online and shipped over, then you can do the needed alterations here.
Best of luck and happy wedding planning!
I would look online. That's where I got my dress. I spoke to the customer service and gave them my exact measurments and they sent me the dress size the closest. I had to do some very minor adjustments to the dress at a tailor here. Saved THOUSANDS by not buying here.
Alternatively I would see if you could find any second hand dresses. I am sure there are many ladies looking to sell. I have a size 14 if you are interested!
Good luck
Hello everyone,
I recently moved to Dubai and am beginning to plan my wedding for the end of the year. I have begun the great dress hunt here in Dubai (as I won't be able to get back to the UK before the wedding) but haven't been able to find anything in the style I envisioned (I've tried Pronovias, The Wedding Shop, and Frost Bridal) I have an idea of what I want, is it worth me going to a tailor with some pictures or is that very risky? Can anyone recommend a good tailor for this if so, or any other shops worth investigating?
Very many thanks in advance for any advice!
