Thank you both :). I hope she does grow quickly because she's like a little sparrow at the moment! But just beautiful :D. And DS seems like a giant in comparison. That's really good to know about Dr Delphine. We used to really like Dr Hamzeh at the Meadows clinic but since we moved it's a bit of a drive, and Motor City is just down the road from us.

Hi DC first congrats on your baby! I just had to say I too can not recommend Dr Delphine enough. She is such an AMAZING Dr. You can tell she really cares and takes her time to make sure she has covered everything. Now I go to her for both of my kids, even if its not feeding related. As another poster said, she also gave me her mobile number and text me to see how my DD was getting on. Every time I see her at the clinic she stops to talk to me and DD. Lovely lady. You will be in good hands with her. Good luck with DD and enjoy the cuddles because we all know how fast they grow:)

Grrr - I got your email, BFC, but I can't reply as when I hit reply I get a blank space at the top of the email and it won't let me type anything. And it won't let me start a new email either :(. I'll try again later but in a nutshell, the pain on latching is still there but seems less intense than before. And on the right, it subsides enough that I don't notice it during the feed. The left is still painful throughout but not as bad as before, I don't think. So hopefully it is transient! I will still take DD to Dr Delphine as soon as the holidays are over, though (totally forgot about that bit so thank you for reminding me!).

Dubai Cat, I can't recommend Dr Delphine more highly. The care and attention she has given my DD who has a mild tt and upper lip tie has been exceptional. She gave me great, balanced advice and has been really excellent on the follow up - even giving me contact details for herself whilst she's on holiday's in case I needed her! Her initial consultation was very thorough and she provided us with a lot of information for us to make our own decision on what to do. We have opted not to have it treated yet and she is working with us to improve the feeding other ways. You'll be in good hand with someone who really knows her stuff and cares about her patients.

Congrats on the birth of your daughter DC! Are u still at City? Or are you back home? I got 8 more days to go for my section with Dr Elsa... Not that I'm counting ;-) Thanks! We got home last night. I was counting down until this Thursday but it wasn't to be ;). I'm planning to take DD to Dr Delphine after Eid and see what she says. The pain on latching is easing off, and is definitely lessening during the feed, but I can see her tongue seems to have a V in the middle when it pokes out so best get it checked.

I see no reason to put up with a painful latch just because weight gain is good, Absolutely, yet this attitude is so comon :(. Blinkthink I'm sorry you weren't taken seriously; well done for perservering (although you shouldn't have had to put up with it), and I'm very glad your little one learned to latch effectively and comfortably as she grew.

I see no reason to put up with a painful latch just because weight gain is good, that was the attitude of the first pediatrician I saw with DS, my nipples were bleeding at the time and when he said there was no problem I was close to slapping him. My LC advised the snip earlier than later before the area became more vascular and so he could learn to latch properly as soon as possible. Very simple procedure with local anesthetic and one tiny drop of blood. Don't hesitate.

Actually government clinical guidelines in the UK now *support* tongue-tie division in infancy; however, many medical staff nowadays are not trained in tongue-tie and its potential effects (breastfeeding being one area that it can - although not always - affect), and another issue is the length of waiting time before you can actually get the procedure done :(. Some areas in the UK are much better in this regard than others. DubaiCat, I've just replied to you :). xx

my eldest has a tongue-tie and midwife & healthvisitor said to leave it, initially it was v sore on me as she was trying her best to latch on and would chaff me causing bleeding but i perservered as i couldn't be hassled with bottle feeding tbh, in uk they only cut if very severe and they are not gaining weight. There have never been issues with speech either (some days wish i could take batteries out) or her adult teeth coming through. She is more annoyed that she cant stick her tongue out ;)

And that reminds me, BFC - expect mail soon! DD has a slight tongue-tie and I think it might be causing a bit of a feeding problem :(. She's just stirring now so I'll see to her and drop you a line.

Congrats DC!!! Didnt realize you were pregnant again!! God bless little Elin! :) I still remember all the "trying to get pregnant" conversations! I think I have been out of EW for quite some time now! :/: Yes indeed! But that was the fastest pregnancy in the history of pregnancies :D. I well remember those conversations. It seems so surreal that it was such a battle to fall pregnant with DS and here we are with two of them... PS Maybe it was the seat that did it - it was on my 'to do' list and maybe knowing it was done made my body think it could give up the ghost?! :D Bless! Congrats and loads of hugs!

DS pinched one from the cafe downstairs :D. Less than a day old and on front covers already! ;) Elin is still down in NICU but her glucose levels have been much better, so hopefully we'll be able to have her back up with us tomorrow morning. I've been going down to feed her and she's been latching like a little gannet (apart from at 4pm when she'd clearly been taking lessons from her big brother in mealtime laziness!) so here's hoping this little hiccup won't stop us from establishing a great feeding routine as soon as we can.
