Suggestions on where to take a 4 year old girl that doesn't involve us getting too hot (all she wants to do is go to the park!) We have only been here a week or 2 so any ideas would be great. She really misses her little friends back home :(

DD, if you are going today, Lamcy would probably be pretty quiet....MM is probably your best bet and as Janesul said more mummies for you to make friends with....:) *PS Please could we all petition MM to turn the music volume down a little bit?....or is it just me?...* Good Lord it's not just you. I took my boy to a class last week and we're still both traumatised by it. The music was SO loud and the ladies were SO loud, so instead of being a lovely gentle interactive music and movement class for toddlers it was just a load of girls SHOUTING along to a CD on Barney repeat whilst the babies looked on shocked and aghast! Complained afterwards about how horrible it was and the lady in charge of events accepted my criticism, gave me my money back and promised to make sure the classes were more appropriate so we'll see. I'm going to try again on Wednesday because it's convenient and it could be so nice.

She really misses her little friends back home :( Is she in nursery in the mornings? She would make heaps of friends, there are so many lovely nurseries in Dubai and they have only just gone back for this term, so they would probably pro rata it for the week you've missed. You could look around the ones near your new house, loads in Safa/jum/umm sequim area. If you put nursery into the search engine at the top it will give you some ideas at onens to look at.

There is also an ice skating rink at Stargate she might enjoy.

Just a tip about Stargate - we went there last week and it is closed!!!! Well you can get in and do some of the video games and do adult go-karting (not sure my 2 girls would have been happy watching their mad mother bombing about in a go cart without them!) but there is not a sinner in there and the staff don't know when (or if) it is going to be fully open again - so don't bother!

Brilliant - thanks so much for this - we have done the childrens city and that is great value for money! I think what I was really looking for is somewhere she can interact with kids her own age (her sister is at school and she misses her and quite frankly I am probably boring now!) so the Mini monsters and Lamcy sound great! Off we go!

Dubai Mall has Kidzania. Dreamland for some swimming. Ski slope lesson at Mall of emirates. Children city or Stargate for some playtime. Unfortunately you have to pay in Dubai to keep them entertained.

Children's City at Creek Park is pretty good for a morning out and good value too. Mine like encounter Zone at WAFI. Mini Monsters on SZR is nice and what I like most about it is that it's mums and not maids who tend to be there with their children (I guess because it's out of a mall) so there's a chance you'll make some new friends whilst you're there.
