Bad experience with Molly Maids

Just FYI I used Molly Maids today and was very annoyed to discover (after they left) damage to the wall and a chip in the TV stand that was not there before they arrived.

In the laundry area we had a large hook on the wall that holds the broom in place, obviously one of the cleaners has tried to get the broom but has pulled the hook completely off the wall (not even really sure how or why). Not only did the hook come off but also the surrounding paint and plaster. It is not a small hook so the damage is sizable.
I found the hook (& wall) just left sitting in the bucket underneath.

I would have much prefered she told me as I understand accidents do happen. A previous cleaner a few years back broke the whole glass top of our cooker but it was an accident and he told me straight away so whilst I was pretty peeved I didn't make a big deal of it to him or expect him to pay for it from his own pocket.

Also a fairly minor chip to the TV stand, I think by knocking the vacuum into it.
Maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing but I am fairly new to Dubai and therefore have all new furniture that I don't want to see get damaged by someone elses carelessness.

I just called Molly Maids and they basically told me nothing they can do about it as they have no insurance for such things.

Anyway that's my rant over............I certainly won't using them again!!

And it's wrong. There's no culpability here at higher levels, just blame the poor little guys who're on cr4p wages and get treated like dirt. It's shameless.

This really, really winds me up. Companies here take absolutely no responsibility for training their staff and making sure they're doing what they're supposed to be doing and then they take it out on the staff themselves?! I hate the way we're all afraid to complain in case the worker in question is fined/fired/shot at dawn. It sucks. This is what makes me shut my mouth up each time i get p*ssy about the poor service, lazy staff etc. Out of fear of ruining someone`s life i just chose not to return to that place or distract myself with something else.

EJC, I think you made a wise decision. After our complain ''the management'' offered us a reimbursement which was not billing us for one month. It was 1000 or something like that. I thought WOW, great customer care etc! The next time made showed up in our house she started crying and telling us that she almost got fired and that this money will be deducted from HER salary, which was 600DHS(!!!), so the company will be pocketing HALF of her pay for 3 or 4 months. I felt horrible, DH accused me of not being able to handle the ''human element'' properly. Which is true but i, like the OP, didn`t get the chance to speak with a maid and simply didn`t know what to do. Since then i decided to remove the human element completely and do the job myself.

These poor maids get paid 8 dhs a hour and the agency takes the rest of it! and for small damages that the maid did yes its there fault but they will prob have a whole salary taken from them which they prob make 1,200 a month if that! so i think its pretty un fair that you make a complaint. accidents happen but if only you knew how these maids get treated she should have said she did something wrong but they are too scared to say because they might lose there jobs.. put yourself in there place wth - sorry but the company is insured..... and maids are generally not careful with other people's things as they have no accountability...... to rip plaster of wall takes force - its not an accident at all. regardless if the company is insured or not you should have informed the maid before she left and got her to give you a explaination.. i understand you are fuming but im sure its not going to cost you a fortune to fix it.. these girls get paidd peanuts and im sure 50 dhs IF that will cost you to fix it thats not going to make a big hole in your bank account but to these girls it will.... I have lived here long enough to know how these girls get treated and they are terrified. If these maids are generally not carefull with other people's things and if you already know that then why ask them to come in the clean your house!!!! The whole point of my post is that I didn't know about the damage before the maid left. Otherwise I would have mentioned it but not pursued it any further. I understand accidents happen and would not expect her to personally pay for it. I didn't initialy ring the agency to make a complaint but to ask what is their policy regarding damages & was under the impression they would have insurance. This is the second time I have used a cleaning agency here so was not aware of damage being a common occurance. I understand what you are saying regarding their salaries and fear of losing their job etc, I have been in the middle east for almost 4 years (just new to Dubai) and I don't want to see anyone get into trouble but there does need to be some level of responsibility on the maids part or the companies part when something like this happens. I had already decided when they ring me back to let them know I don't want any compensation (if they offer) as I don't want her to have to pay from her own pocket but I do hope they inform the maid to tell someone next time she damages something. edited by EJC on 21/09/2011 edited by EJC on 21/09/2011 It does sound as if she has been rather rough with your furniture though. Perhaps by rushing her work, she is causing damage. I still think it should be reported.

They will probably punish the maid big time. Make her pay for the damages etc... It happened to us a year ago, i am done with the maids since then. This is the unfortunate thing. If she told me I wouldn't have called the agency or asked her to pay from her own money etc. Accidents happen, but it's the fact she left without telling me that really annoys me. Waiting for the manager to call me back.... edited by EJC on 21/09/2011 Exactly. All i wanted from the maid is to TALK to me, i don`t bite! I think she was just too scared of everything, really... After we complained to the management things got so bad between her, us, the agency that we had to quit it altogether. I really liked her though:(

They are lying; they have insurance. Call them back and tell them if someone isn't round to fix it within the hour you will be calling the police.
