are they banned in Dubai? used one once in Manchester and had to sign a disclaimer, would've been easy to lie on it though and give a made up name and address though.
I completely agree, the though of what the poor fish have to do, makes my stomach churn.
I don't know about "poor fish"...all they know is that they are getting a meal. Fish aren't clever enough to be thinking, "Ewww...not toe callus again." LOL. It's gross to us, but it's just meat to them.
That said, I also could never stick my feet in a 'bucket' full of fish that had nibbled on goodness knows how many other pampered toes. Turns my stomach too. Each to his/her own though...
I would NEVAH do that unless I am vacationing on an island and the fish are in the ocean.
I feel sorry for the poor fish....ew! ew! ewwww! (no pun intended...)
Bit of a no-brainer really. I always thought it was a disgusting treatment both from an infection point of view and from the thought of what it is! Agree.
I did it in KL and was glad to have tried it but didn't really like it so won't do it again. My feet came out in lots of tiny red dots about a week later. I just left it and the dots disappeared after a few days. I can only think it was related to the fish spa in some way.
The fish don't have any teeth :D.
I walked past one of these spas in the UK and a sign clearly said you couldn't use it if you had a number of conditions, psoriasis and diabetes included, or if you had any kind of open wound or sore on your feet. I guess they're reliant on customers telling the truth, though.
that just made my stomach turn..

... they never actually check your feet/toes. I did the fish pedicure in London, very good spa, but the girl did not even check if my toes/feet were ok. It put me off a bit at that time as people might just say nothing if they have any condition.

I particularly like the quote [i'>"Provided that good standards of hygiene are followed by salons, members of the public are unlikely to get an infection from a fish spa pedicure"[/i'>... hmmm... in Dubai?!
Yeah, and what are they going to do, clean the fishs' teeth after every customer.
... not that they would pay a blind bit of attention to it here, but the Health Protection Agency has found that there is a low risk of infection from using the nibbly-fish treatments and so advises that people with weakened immune systems, psoriasis, diabetes, Hep A and HIV refrain from using them.
