1 income - 30,000 pcm. All-in package so "housing allowance" is part of monthly salary. Company will give up to 3 months' housing allowance in advance as an interest-free loan. Company also does not pay school fees. Whether you get a "fat cat expat" package or not depends largely on the kind of industry you are in. If you are in one of the "traditional" expat industries like oil, gas, aviation etc, you're much more likely to get the old-school packages. If you are in one of the newer industries that have come to Dubai since about 2001, you are much more likely to get a single monthly salary payment that you are expected to use to pay for everything.

House supplied and all house bills paid, except for (oddly) gas. Schooling for 3 children, one company car. Base 60-80 + annual bonus. Single income. Now pass the vodka! I'm gonna need some vodka after reading that :)

I'm curious. Would anyone ask a fellow guest at a dinner party what they made a month/year? I didn't realise we were having a dinner party? In that case... "Waiter, my glass needs refilled!" LOL :D That's why I asked. I find it interesting that people wouldn't sit at a dinner table and ask someone how much they earned, but it's OK on here. I know it's anonymous (to a certain degree, anyway) so posters probably wear their brave knickers more than they would in person, but still... maybe I'm just old-fashioned in that respect. Is it five o'clock anywhere yet?!

No allowances (since its our own company, it comes out of our pocket one way or another), except we take 110,000 a year towards our rent. 60-80k, one income right now.

I'm curious. Would anyone ask a fellow guest at a dinner party what they made a month/year? Depends on how many bottles of wine had been consumed! :-) It has been known to happen in our circles ......

A friend of mine has ALL school fees paid for his x3 kids, a house PURCHASED for him + x2 high end vehicles. All living costs covered to inc DEWA etc etc but no maid paid for ....... oh I forgot to mention, he owns the company & is very successful :-) As for us - an allowance for school fees from both our co's (I think 50% to a certain limit), but we have no kids. No other perks other than x1 return flight home. Both work - 40 to 60k

[b'>[/b'>The company gives us a cheque for a year's rent. It's up to us to use it however we want. We are expected to cover DEWA from the housing allowance. Company pays school fees at any school in Dubai we choose, but not seat deposits (don't ask, it's unique to the American School of Dubai). If we had teenagers, the company would also contribute to boarding school tuitions up to $25K USD per child a year. One company car - a Prado. We get 2 x sets of flights home a year. We are on one income. Are they a myth or a reality? Do you get an allowance for rent and schooling? Or Does the company cover rent/schooling completely? Do you & your OH (other half) both work or is there only one income? What is your gross monthly income? 0 - 20,000 20,001 - 40,000 40,001 - 60,000 60,001 - 80,000 80,001 - 100,000 Above 100,000 edited by Tallybalt on 23/01/2011 That's pretty good tallybalt...
