We had a ski holiday this year at St. Moritz and Zermatt in Switzerland. Both expensive but the best slopes and activities for the family.

Very interesting. Looking now at ski.com. Any other travelling website you could recommend? Thank you all!! We usually book through the local websites: https://www.ischgl.com Or http://www.stantonamarlberg.com/en Buy separate tickets to get there. Have fun! Alternatively: Zermatt in Switzerland is perfect in March.

Livigno (Italy) is good for late-season skiing, great food and duty-free shopping.

Good point about the snow, bear in mind that March is the very end of season in most places. We booked our original holiday to St Anton through Snowfinders - they're AMAZING! Also, have you thought about Bulgaria? It's very up and coming on the ski front and far far cheaper than other European destinations. Plus cheap flights there through FlyDubai or Wizz Air.

If you go in March, make sure the ski area is above 2000 meters. Otherwise there might not be enough snow. If you go to Austria, St. Anton and Ischgl are safe bets for snow.

I can 100% recommend Chalet Chabi, in Abondance. It won't break the bank , rooms are fairly small , but it's a lovely small family run hotel. It has a small jacuzzi pool , indoor pool , table tennis etc etc. They will run you to the slopes. The slopes are brilliant for absolute beginners and you can easily access more difficult slopes. Food is amazing , we have 3 kids, who loved it too.

We went to Kitzbuhel with children. It was Ok but very cold indeed. The skiing there is quite hard - lots of ice and steep runs. We went to Munich and then taxi -which was about another hour. Used to mostly go to Villlars-sur-Ollon Switzerland but CHF is so high now.

... If you have the time and budget the best place I have been for skiing is Breckenridge in Colorado, expensive to get there and such a long way but relatively cheap when you are there. The facilities are amazing and lots to do around the town.

It really depends on budget as skiing holidays from here can be expensive. Austria is family friendly but can be expensive. I love Andorra, it is cheaper than the Alps and the ski area is massive. Ski school are mainly English speakers and are very well organised, they used to hold a mini ski slalem competition at the end of the week for the different classes, which was good fun. The main areas of Soldeu and El tarter are ski in/ ski out straight to the town and then a short walk to the main hotels. Pas de la Casa is a bit more party orientated so may not be the best with a young family. There used to be husky sled rides, cross country skiing and other activities when the children get a little fed up. It is around 3.5 - 4hrs transfer from Barcelona, however last time I priced a ski holiday it actually worked out cheaper to buy a ski package from a UK airport and book return flights to the UK on Emirates than trying to piece it all together from here.

Another vote for Austria, but we went to St Anton. Flew to Zurich then took the train over. Hotel Arlberg is lovely. Lots of great lessons for the little ones and something for everyone.

I second Austria. Kitzbuhel is charming, although has a reputation of being high society. Kirshberg, its neighboring town was lots of fun with night sledding or skiing. It's certainly more affordable with a lively and cute town area with pizza/Kabab houses. All of these places have kinder ski schools for the kids, You can get there by train from Munich fairly easily.

Consider Austria which we found much friendlier than France. The Galtenberg Kinderhotel in Alpbach is fabulous. The area is beautiful with lots of snow and ice activities but also wonderful thermal baths. Full kiddy programme at the hotel with ski lessons, tabogganing, nannies if you want to ski longer or go out without kids, full creche and kids' club if you want to have a drink or dinner alone.

Iam sure there are a lot of EU ladies out there to reply better to this than me. We went to Chamonix and loved it. Easy to get there from here and Geneva.
