A lady was running pushing her pushchair, running quite fast too around the outer boundry of Safa Park. Hate to think if she fell, the poor baby too. If you mean on the running track around Safa Park I don't understand what the problem with that is? it's a running track, there's no traffic and it's a flat surface so there's nothing for her to trip over. I love seeing people jogging (safely) with those special jogging buggies, I think it looks great!

... with their small baby in a little cart thing trailing behind Daddy's bike... Can anyone tell me what that thing is called? I saw a lady cycling at Al Wasl with her baby in one of those, and I always wanted to know what it's called so I can google images of it and freak my MIL out :D ETA: My MIL finds me carrying DD in a sling scary. :) <em>edited by stovetop on 25/09/2011</em>

Or the crazy woman in the ranches with a toddler on the back of her bike (no helmet) and two large dogs on leashes in her hand? I've seen her too, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought she was mad. The first time I saw her her LO was only a few months old, and she only had the one dog.

Lord knows how many times I have just missed running over a toddler in the school carpark because for WHATEVER reason, even if it is WORK, the parents have decided to send a zillion children to school with a 20 something year old nanny! Once a nanny had a baby around 4 months in one arms, new toddler in one hand, 2 school age children walking, 3 year old suddenly rans in front of the car! I may be driving at 4kms an hour but it is just not safe practice. A mother can do it even with 7 children, but a young gal, no sorry, just not the wiser thing to do!

What about the couple who used to cycle round Springs with their small baby in a little cart thing trailing behind Daddy's bike, and another toddler riding pillion behind Mummy? Scary, some people's risk assessment skills.

According to the Highway Code (UK), if you are walking (or jogging) on a road without a footpath / pavement then you should go in the direction of the oncoming traffic so you can see the traffic, rather than it coming from behind you. That being said, i think this was about country lanes than muli lane highways! Umm, highway code indeed!

Yup, sometimes the pathways have been so badly designed that you can't cross the road and get onto them. There's one section by me where they've put a lovely hedge between the road and the path all the way along this particular stretch, so you're forced to walk in the road if you have a stroller because ironically, it's the safest place to cross (other choices are a blind corner or... another blind corner!) Anyhow, if she has a choice, then there's no reason why she shouldn't be on the pavement. I'm assuming that she doesn't run on the road for fun.

A man wrote a letter about this woman to a newspaper around a year back. Guess she's still at it.

I saw her in June running in the road with her lo in the buggy. She was def not trying to get on the pavement.

Did it cross your mind that this woman could have been running to get out of the road and onto the path ? Why did you feel the need to post this on a public forum ? surely it must be a better idea to stop and tell her personally rather than embarrassing her publically.

When I saw her at about 7.12 am she was walking at a brisk pace on the path going in the direction of the Al Khail Road. She had a blonde-ish ponytail and was in black shorts and top and pushing one of those baby holders designed specially for jogging. I've seen her often before and admired her stamina in this heat. Never seen her jogging on the road into oncoming traffic. Or are there two active ladies who jog with their babies along that back road every morning?
