Hi
Im travelling with my 15mo on an emirates flight in the early hours.

I will need a couple of bottles for her and she is now on cows milk. I know i will probably get away with taking it through security with me but just in case it gets taken off me does Duty Free sell milk? If not, do Emirates provide milk and is it full fat??
Tia

Security are very understanding with baby food/ products. you won't have any issues carrying milk through.

As all have said below.. No.. EK do not have fresh milk for kids. We usually take some UHT boxes nowand used to take powder milk when the kids were little even when they were dr king cows milk normally.. Just call it 'holiday milk' and they seem to enjoy it! Air side at DXB, McDonalds sells UHT cartons, Starbucks will do a cup of milk, although lately Starbucks seem to be using UHT, but not sure if this is airport also.. We have never had a problem with fluids for the kids out of DXB, but declare them and be polite is my tip!

Lol while we're at it can I please just issue a friendly reminder to any high-status flyers here that if the crew try to accommodate your requests for something from a higher class & cannot do so, please be nice!!! It's actually not technically allowed for the crew to bring you something from first or business if you are travelling in business or economy, and they can get in trouble for doing it so please just take it as a bonus if you get it and don't 'complain' or threaten to report the crew if they say no... thanks lol.... just recently been at my wits end with people getting angry at me for not giving them stuff from First Class when they're not *in* First Class. Am sure all of you here are far too nice for that but just in case ;)

As far as I'm aware milk for babies is allowed through security. If not, we have far more bottled water than milk so bringing powder is a good option, very happy to top it up for you. We are given small cartons of baby milk to provide for the little ones but it can be very hit and miss depending on how many babies on board. I think on average we have 8-10 small (maybe 200ml) cartons in each galley (economy anyway) but on some flights I've had up to 22 babies on board with half wanting the milk. Unfortunately we cannot always give the cows milk for the reasons stated above, also some of the milk provided to us is for the crew (pilots) meals and cannot be shared out. Most parents are understanding but you wouldn't believe some of the tantrums people have thrown when I've explained that we only have 2 bottles of milk and cannot give it out until the tea/coffee/breakfast service is finished. If you at least bring a little it can supplement what is already on board. I do recall a lady bringing a 1L carton of rice milk with her recently out of Dubai so it can be done. It can be kept cold for you and the crew fill a sticker with your name & seat number so they know it's yours. I actually had a woman the other day come into the galley and start helping herself to this person's milk! She accused me of lying when I had explained I didn't have any other milk than the baby milk (we'd somehow been left with 1 bottle of milk for the entire flight which had to be used for the pilots) and she decided she'd just get up and help herself to this poor lady's milk. When I asked her what she was doing she replied that she was entitled to use this milk!! Lol, had to nicely explain that no, she is not 'entitled' to another passenger's belongings & se is allowed to bring her wn if she so wishes, as this lady had done. :p Anyhow, thanks for asking ahead of time. Being prepared makes a huge difference. (Also, I get that people run out or get delayed, have no issue with that- it's the ones that turn up for 14hrs flight with NOTHING at all for baby that make me go 'hhmmmmmm'!!!) Let us know what security/customs say, would love to know if they are consistent!

My cousin successfully took onboard an Emirates flight to the UK some lunch-box sized long-life milk cartons plus straw for her 8 yr old son. Packed it up in his in flight back pack and alerted the staff. Security staff at Dubai airport are very considerate of children's needs.

From my flying days i do remember a customer pre ordering cows milk as crew had refused/run out due to high customer requests. Not sure if they were a gold member or so but may be worth phoning them, telling them you've been refused before and what can be done.

Dubai security are great in regards to babies needs. Just tell them you have baby food in the bag before it goes through the x-ray and they wont even blink. I've been through many times with bottles of milk and water (more than 100mls in each) and they have been fine. Don't rely on getting milk onboard. Catering only supplies them with a couple of litres of fresh milk to serve with the tea and coffee so I'd hate for you to get stuck. The crew get asked for milk for their children ALL the time and they hate saying 'no' but they simply don't have it. I haven't seen it in Duty Free either but to be honest, I've never looked.

Powder milk for one day wont be that bad. The milk onboard are for passengers tea and coffee. Theres not enough to supply for babies too.

Emirates do have full fat milk on board but it will be a good idea to take your own as they may not have enough to give you for your DD (depending on how much she will drink) and for other passengers (and how much they want to drink). I think if you take the small cartons of longlife milk, you should be fine through customs here. I know this may not be the best option, but what about powdered milk (e.g. anchor) and then you just need the water?

Tia Can you put it in 50ml bottles inside one of the plastic bags. My understanding is that you can take liquids but they have to be in 50ml quantities
