Are companies allowed to put a 'cap' on the maximum they will pay per ticket for an employee? We get family flights and were recently told there is a 3k cap per person. I dont know any time of year when the airfare is 3k. Maybe right now but who wants to go at this time of year? I didnt know companies were legally allowed to put a cap on tickets. Does anyone have information on this?

It depends on company and the deal that you made at the time of joining. It gets even more complicated when the you and your DH is from different continents. None the less, one common thread, no fixed rule for family.

Thanks for the replies ladies! So I guess 9k towards annual flights is not bad. I just didnt know a cap was at their discretion. Thanks for the info!

My company does the same. I get an amount that would probably cover the cost to drop me off somewhere in Europe and have to hitch hike the rest of the way!! Luckily though DH company are very generous and give money to cover the costs of business trips for all of us, up to us how we spend it.

My company does it indirectly by getting quote from a agent for all required airfare a the lowest possible peak time and allocating funds accordingly - it never covers the actual costs.

Yes I am sure they can basically they are saying they will contribute up to 3000 pp. our company offer a set amount too of 6000 US dollars a year for flights, but we don't have to spend it on flights if we don't want to...it's divided by 12 monthly payments into DH's salary.
