I've called the authorities to ask but keep getting put on hold so just before I take myself down to immigration can any of you ladies help or advise on what to do.

My lovely Filipino maid turns 60 in December and she wants to keep working with us for another 2 years. The government put the 60 age limit on but someone mentioned to my DH recently that it is possible but you may have to get her private health insurance.

Has anyone had any experience in this? Is it possible?

Any information is greatly appreciated

How long has she been with you Molly? With me 2 years but I've known her 5. I really am a lucky lady. She's kind, honest, trustworthy, a great worker and somehow remembers everything I forget.

My next question is, did they mention an insurance company that deals in private health insurance for maids? Noor Takaful is the company that just launched the maid-specific plan. That's likely not your only option, though. We got our maid a policy through insureme.ae for a reasonable cost.

Thanks for posting Busybee. My next question is, did they mention an insurance company that deals in private health insurance for maids? I'm guessing Axa is one but if you can remember anyone that they mentioned it would help. Thanks again http://www.noortakaful.com/medical/noor-popular-domestic-aid-medical.aspx

I dont think they are strict about the age stuff anymore. My MIL runs a business here and she just turned 70 and had her visa renewed. No questions about age or anything. They dont even look.

No thing useful to add but I do hope you can renew her visa. It would be such a shame to have to let her go when you're both really happy with the arrangement. (I also giggled that Pollydxb answered Mollydxb) Yey!!!! It looks like I can! Although knowing my luck rules would have changed by the time I come round to doing it. She really is a wonderful woman who we all adore. Now I've got to plan what we're going to do for her 60th!

it was on the radio just a few days ago that new private health insurance has been approved for the likes of maids, drivers, servants as they call it etc. so i suspect yes its fine, as long as a renewal, as the rules of 60 will apply no new visa etc.

OK, This is great if it works out. DH mentioned renewal only too so it all sounds promising. Polly - I just looked on the website for the age limit so not sure. Thanks so much

Did the keep the 60 age limit for maids? As I thought that had been extended?
