Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone has flown their pets to Dubai with Emirates? If so, want to know how the pets were treated by EK and also if an agent was used to clear the pets after arrival in Dubai? Any help/recommendations will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!! Lora.

We shipped pets from USA and used one handler at that end and then used DKC at this end. I would definitely go with DKC again, did an amazing job!!!

Hi ExpatLora, just to reply to your questions below, I'll answer for my experience last 9th August: At the cargo in Dubai you can pay by credit card. As said, we Did not get the agent. The dog had enough water in the cage. While waiting all docs at custom, we couldn't take the dog, we just had to wait for out turn and only in the end they Let you see it, when they give it to you. But our puppy was ok, she was so happy when she saw my husband! I do not think that with an agent you can access the dog area, anyway contact them or check on dkc.ae, they have very precise explanations. Good Luck!

Thank you for all your replies! Will consider all options. EK's website does not work well at all. Still waiting to hear from them a good week on. Anyway, have a great one!!

Hi lora, Just wanted to add that emirates dont take some breeds like pugs, boxers or other short nosed breeds. because of this we had to send ours separately and used a company called DKC http://www.dkc.ae They have a great section on their web site with all the instructions if you want to do the process your self Our two had to fly through frankfurt, stay overnight and then to Dubai the next day. I was so worried about them, but they were totally fine and adapted incredibly quickley to their new life in the desert!

Thank you all for your replies. We are just naturally worried. I've heard of paying with an E-Card on picking the pet up, but since we will be new arrivals in Dubai -- we obviously won't have that -- can it all be paid for online which would be perfect! I'll also check out the agents. Are the pets walked after being in their crates for so long and at least given water? Also, when waiting to complete all paperwork at Dubai Cargo Village, are we allowed access to our pet to maybe take him for a short walk? So glad that everything worked out for you guys and your precious pets. Again, big thanks!!!

I flew my toy poodle here via Emirates using an agent at both ends. The agent here was Dubai Kennels. They handled everything very efficiently and with care for my ageing pet. They ensured she spent no time at all out in the heat on the Tarmac and all in all, I believe they the quarantine process took no more than one hour. Dubai Kennels were great and I would not hesitate in recommending them as the receiving agents. We arrived one week after our dog who stayed at Dubai kennels during that time.

Hi, we few our maltese little dog 20 days ago on the same flight as us, we did not use any agents, we asked for the import permit online. It was well assisted by the cargo services at departure and then, once arrived, we went directly to Dubai cargo to pick it up and it took about 3 hours but this does not depend on having an agent or not. If you can wait your self I think an agent is just an extra cost. We were really scared about the flight but in the end everything went well and we did it all by ourselves!

Thank you so much! I will get in touch with her soon. We plan to travel on the same flight too and will wait at the airport (Cargo Village) for our dog. I understand that the pets will be taken to Cargo Village after arrival where they are checked out. Lora.

Our doggies were on the same Emirates flight as us when we flew from South Africa to Dubai 3 months ago. We used Alison from The Doghouse to deal with customs etc and she personally delivered them to us a few hours after arrival at our new home. The dogs were happy and healthy :) I highly recommend her, she kept in contact with us all the time, very professional and well worth the cost. Her mobile no is 050 4578874, website is www.dubaidoghouse.com
