I don't think you can open a smart saver account unless you already have an Emirates NBD account. The smart saver is just an internet operated account where you can transfer money in as often as you like and only transfer out once a month. It offers a slightly higher interest rate because of the limited access. (no cards or cheque books) I use it to save up my rent and for putting a small amount away each month in savings. By keeping this money separate I don't spend it! My standard current account with Emirates NBD is for general living and bills. It works well for me, but need a general account along side it.
