Hi Ladies,

So I understand beef oxo is not halal and so no longer available "sob sob" has anyone seen it in the non-muslim section of any supermarket?

I stocked up last year when I went to Oz but running low and no trip planned to get more as yet.

TIA

When I come back here after a trip to either home, I bring my supplies with me: from Pakistani, I bring honey (fresh from the hive) in plastic containers, dried homemade cheese, mung beans straight from the field and from Australia, I bring some packet spices and a few other things I haven't seen here. I have never had a problem with any of them. So, I definitely wouldn't worry about anything factory packaged.

Ok so this is no doubt a stupid question, but what would happen if I brought a few packs of the knorr stock pots in with me when I come over in April? Would I need to declare them as food stuff at customs and if so would they be confiscated? They are sooo much better than the stock cubes! I bought Oxos at Xmas in my suitcase It was scanned and got through okay. I didn't declare them either

You could have someone send some, or maybe order it online? Don't think its a banned substance or even non halal, (not an expert on that) but I checked the ingredients, it does not contain oink! http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=254881051 edited by chezmoi on 12/03/2015

I didn't realise the reason that red oxo was no longer available was due to it not being halal. Have the ingredients changed? I last bought it in spinneys maybe a year ago, it wasn't in the non-Muslim section. They sold out very fast though! I must add it to my list of things to bring back from the uk!

I know weird, the red oxo was around since I got here 7 years ago then mid last year just vanished. I see the red bisto is back on the shelves and the chicken / veg / spag boll cubes are sometimes on show but not the red.

TIA The Red Bisto disappeared and reappeared too In the past I have only found it at Spinneys on Beach Road and Waitrose. I too tend to stock up when I go back to the UK
