So whats the best body scrub that you have discovered?

I have recently started getting rough and dry skin on my upper arms :(

Would really appreciate any tried and tested recommendations.

TIA
xx

Yes, smells like a farm, that's exactly how to describe the smell! ugh!! I had a product like that which I bought in Africa. Worse, the scent was called something like "Touch me all over." All over my fur??? I tossed it promptly! I don't think it is rancid, but that doesn't mean you have to suffer! I think I am going to chuck this stuff out and not risk smelling too natural!

I am using soap de marsellie http://savondemarseille.com/savon-de-marseille-palm-oil-soaps-original.html . Here also i found Aleppo soap I'm washing my hair with. Unfortunately here in Dubai they don't have much choice, i brought most from my home country. The less is on label means better product. I have tried that Aleppo soap, it is natural as you say but find it a bit gloopy and sticky, also the shape of the bar is rather hard in the hands. I found a natural soap in one of the organic stores here that I use for bath and hands that I'm happy with, just wondered if you had found something else I had not seen. Agree there's not a lot of choice here in truely natural soaps.

Was yours the make "Natural Moroccan" by any chance? If so then mine must be rancid or something if you have the same and it smells good. No, it's called "Moroccanoil." Made by a UAE free zone company "L'Origine." I am also used to the sometimes "off" smell of natural products. Maybe it smells hideous to someone else! I have tried some soaps that smell like a farm--but this is more like oily, mediciny. If that makes sense. Yes, smells like a farm, that's exactly how to describe the smell!

Personally i have never used Marocan Soap paste, but I am using natural soaps. They don't smell good, little bit rough this is because there is no extra things added. But the way how they work on skin is amazing, no dryness also i get rid of falling hair and dandruff. So i think this Marocan soap its worth trying it, you can make small test for allergy before apply on whole body. Yes, thanks, think if will test it out beforehand, don't want to end up smelling the place out either! BTW which natural soaps are you using?

I bought a jar of black Moroccan soap paste, thinking of trying it but maybe someone can tell me if it supposed to smell so bad? It really stinks. Does the smell change or linger, not really too sure what I have here and a bit worried about using it and smelling really bad afterwards. Anyone know if this is ok? Not an expert, but mine doesn't smell bad. I love it, save the stupid mitt it came with. The ingredients: water, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, potassium hydroxide and parfum. Was yours the make "Natural Moroccan" by any chance? If so then mine must be rancid or something if you have the same and it smells good.

dxbinthecity, read the label what are ingredients? I think it is kind of natural product so it may smell different (bad ;)) than the ones stuffed with chemicals, parfumes, parabens etc. All it says is "Natural ingredients, olive oil, castor oil and saponified material." No mention of chemicals or claim of being chemical free either. So these black Moroccan soap pastes usually smell bad if they are natural?

@Irooni, I went for a Moroccan bath in a spa managed by Iranian ladies. The lady doing my scrubbing session didn't use the normal Moroccan bath soap to scrub with but some white stuff she said they had imported from Iran. Do you know the name of this? it's amazing stuff! Hello marroush Yes it's called sefid aab. I would be happy to give some, if you like.

OK, on the topic of Moroccan soaps :( I bought a little tub of the brown, gooey soap and was excited to try it. At 12 dhs, I thought it was a good buy. It came with a mitt--like the exfoliating gloves. Here I am, just scrubbing away in the shower "la la la la la---WTH!?" There are these black spots all over the tub and shower! This stupid mitt, what--did they use a water-based dye or something??" I am sure the soap is lovely, so I'll nip into to Body Shop today and buy appropriate gloves. After I scrub the bathtub and walls, of course.

Just pick an oil ( like olive, almond....whatever) mix with salt or sugar, mix some essential oils for the scent. The homemade ones are just as effective. edited by Irooni on 01/11/2012 I second that! I never buy body scrubs as I love homemade ones. One of my favourites is coconut oil mixed with brown sugar. Stir it together, stand in the bath, rub it in all over or where needed then shower as normal.

I had a scrub from Boots own brand, with Almond.. Smelled amazing! Body Shop has good body scrub as well, I go for anything with coconut or almond. I also love body shop scrubs with the fine grit--not the fruit seed ones. They do nothing for me. I like to mix castor sugar into olive oil which does the trick when I don't want to spend 70 dhs on a scrub. Just have to make sure I also scrub the tub afterward--or someone will be breaking a neck!!

Can really recommend the gloves you wear in the shower. Someone was talking about it here a while ago, which made me try. Got some for 9dhs in spinneys and they are great. Biggest thing I noticed was no more ingrowing hairs after waxing and really soft skin.
