Good Afternoon,

Can anyone recommend a good shop to buy roasting chicken? I've tried fresh and frozen in Waitrose, Carrefour and Almaya Supermarket but they all seem very watery. Not sure why that is. Anyway if you have any suggestions I would very much appreciate them.

Thanks!

Hi have to tell you the best organic chicken is available at the ripe organic shop off al minara st . They cost 95 each I bought two last week and really the best chicken here in Dubai. You need to pre order and they arrive on Saturdays. I have bought the organic chicken from the organic shop and ts tough and dry. I have also bought the French chicken from spinneys and the corn fed one but ripe chicken beats all ! Save some for me though. That's the problem...at 95 quid each, for some of us with big families, that's a lot of money!! ...would really love to but 95 is really high....especially if chicken is eaten frequently in the home...If I was alone, its probably doable....AND please I do not have a matching designer bag and purse before i'm berated for not wanting to spend money on food...

I've never had tough or dry chicken from the organic store, I think it's all in the cooking. When I've roasted their chickens they have always been moist and tasty. edited by TimTam on 24/06/2013

Always Organic. It's more expensive but non-organic chicken is pumped full of antibiotics and hormones (and water to plump up the weight....)

Thanks Ladies for such helpful replies! I will try both of these suggestions. I've put myself on a bit of a regimen and chicken features heavily in my diet plan. Thanks again :-)

I like the French chickens from C4 or Spinneys, they are corn fed and are wow. About 70 dirhams each.

The organic foods and cafe store have organic chicken. They have whole fresh chicken and frozen ones. I always buy the frozen and put them in the freezer until we need them. Lovely roasted and taste so much better than the supermarket ones. The frozen chickens are I think 45dhs a kilo and every 3rd Saturday of the month they have 20% off.
