Hi Ladies.
Can any of you recommend where to buy a gold Grandma necklace written in Arabic? Also an idea of approximate price. Don't want it too big in size. TIA

It started a few years ago with one or two posters going there and then posting about it, and as often happens on EW the whole world started going there. The same thing happened with a certain tailor in Satwa and a hairdresser who's name must never be mentioned! :D

18 k gold today is approx. 114 dhs/gram. Factor around 2 grams for the pendant + the making price, maybe 200 dhs, that leads to no less than 400 dhs, if you don't need the chain. [b'>And again the question: why always Cara????[/b'> edited by simoralu44 on 16/06/2014 I only used Cara for these. I found a lovely little shop elswhere there for other things :) My question was not directed at you specifically, but generally as Cara seems to be the jeweler of choice on this forum. Hmmm, wonder why?? ;) No I guessed that. My answer was just to remind people that there is more than one shop there :) Personally I prefer using the other shop it's a lot less crowded and we have always had a good deal. edited by Geordie expat on 16/06/2014 Thank you! That was my point too!!

Recently paid 500 dhs for white gold necklace of 4 letters and 100 dhs for silver name of 7 letters at Cara. HTH Whole necklace, or just the pendant? Whole necklace (name and chain) in a gift box. Ready the next day.

Everytime I've gone into Cara it's been packed out. I just don't like being watched over when I'm trying to chose something. Thankfully I have never been in there when its been rammed I wouldn't like it if it was

I always use Monili (behind Cara) paid 300 for silver with a small diamond, last month. Think they quoted me around 200 for just gold, a little more for white gold.

Hmmm, wonder why?? ;) I have used them for years. Have bought and had several pieces of jewelery bought for me from there. Even sold a few pieces I bought from there in the UK for a much higher price than paid. I haven't shopped anywhere else as they do the job for me

I think it all depends on who you deal with their. I paid AED100 each for two silver ones and it was definitely no more than AED200 for a gold one. Mind it was only 5 letters. edited by Geordie expat on 16/06/2014

Thank you. Was that for gold? Sounds a lot less than I was thinking. I have a silver one and it was 200, I imagine real gold will cost more Perhaps give them a call edited by sarahlou123 on 16/06/2014
