Our vegetable garden (including rocket leaves and spring onions i.e.non-cooked produce) has been sprayed with insecticides K-Othrine SC 25 (Deltamethrin 25% w/w) and chloropyrifos can we eat the produce?

Have tried checking on the net but struggling to get an easy answer, any experts or chemical buffs out there? if we wash them can we eat them?

TIA.

elk1973 - thanks for the tip on the homemade veg wash - so does this remove any chemicals on the fruit/veg? We live in a compound & Llord had pest control come to spray the comon areas of the compound and the guy happily sprayed my garden and all of my home grown veggies, herbs etc which I have been nurturing for months to be able to use fresh 'organic' produce for my kids!! Ha ha after this that is funny hey! So yes, like you can't afford the prices of organic stuff in the shops so just growing our own stuff on a small scale and hoping that it is now not wasted effort :-o

What do you mean your vegetable garden? you mean you grow your own veg and the gardeners have sprayed it with insecticides. I don't have an answer, but I do wash my all my fruit and vegetables, with a homemade solution. I use a glass of white wine vinegar and a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, mixed together in a spray container with water. I spray my vegetables and fruit, leave them for a bit then scrub them gently with a soft brush then wash them. I do always wonder what insecticides are used on imported products, as I know some insecticides which are illegal in the EU are still used in other parts of the world. to be honest if I had the money I would buy orangic from Ripe. But alas not enough money.
