Hello everyone, long time lurker, first post. I just want to share my IVF experience for the benefit of those who are making their decisions. I went to New Hope Hospital in Sharjah, I am also happy to say we got our BFP! The staff was excellent and our Doctor, Dr. Ghada Hosny is not only an awesome doctor but a wonderful person as well. We were never hurried and we were encouraged to ask our questions. We initially wanted to visit several clinics so I made appointments with New Hope, Dr. Fakih and Conceive. We went to New Hope in the morning, then to Dr. Fakih in the afternoon. We were scheduled with Conceive a few weeks after. But after meeting Dr. Ghada and the staff, both me and my husband made the decision to go ahead with New Hope, best decision ever. We hope all the best to those that are trying. As hilsbils said, IVF is not for the faint hearted. Keep strong and my thoughts are prayers will be with you all.

Hi everybody, I just want to share with you my wonderful news. At last my prayers have been answered and I am pregnant. I have been reading the comments on this site and felt that everybody should know about my experience in New Hope Hospital in Sharjah. I’ve been attending this clinic for the treatment of my infertility and would recommend that you go and see for yourselves. Many of you have commented on lack of communication or lack of organization in other clinics. But in New Hope patients are treated with so much respect and devotion. You can feel the devotion and teamwork in the atmosphere around you. You are given the best of treatment and before your treatment starts, the problems you have are pinpointed and everything is already explained. I am proud to say that after suffering from infertility for more than 2 years, I am happily pregnant now, and wish to share my nice experience there in New Hope Hospital with everybody. You will be happy to know that the new consultant specialized in difficult cases due to previously failed attempts or recurrent miscarriages (Dr. Karunakar Marikinti) have joined their unique team and he attended my case.

Wow! Result. Thanks for that. I didnt know where to start as UK is large and lots of options, both good and bad. I hear its a lot more pricey there but we havent much choice as we are moving to UK next week. My case is getting pretty complicated too. Good luck!

Thanks! might still go to Dr. P!! lool Check out the Harley Street Fertility Clinic and Assisted Reproduction and Gynaecology Centre which is Dr. Tarrannisi, he supposedly holds the highest rates of success overall in the UK. My friend just had a baby from him and her case was very complicated. He takes on really tough cases and shows results. HSFC also has amazing success results, i am from london and i wish i could go back to do my treatment but unfortunately hubby cant take the time out! Good luck on your journey, hope we have good news soon! xx

Yes, and I have also heard good things about Dr Wael and Mohammed at Dubai Fertility centre... but seems folk have the same complaints where apparently they get so busy, often phone calls dont get answered, and doctors very busy. Ditto Dr Fakih. I wonder if the fertility market is hotting up and getting very busy or perhaps simply disorganised? Best of luck with BH. We need a better option in Dubai which can understand the roller coaster. Our next cycle may be in the UK. Not sure if any of the EW have had IVF in the UK. Any recommendations? edited by hilsbils on 21/10/2012

Hi Hilsbils, I actually didnt have a problem with egg retrieval and transfer... after having done this several times and have also dealt with Dr. Munira in Conceive. Nice lady but i would prefer to have my treatment in one place. Dr. P is a great guy, just wish he had time. Dr. Robertson has some stealth embroylogists and one from london from Mohamed Taranissi's clinic. He is one of the top doctors in the UK for getting one of the highest success rate results. Sometimes its good to explore options as your age and situation changes and sometimes other people can give you a new perspective. I still have not decided who i will get treatment from but exploring. x

Hi aka.... Dr Munira is another doctor who works for Conceive but she isnt based in Sharjah and with my appointments I always got lots of time with her, and her nurses. Never felt rushed and she held my hand and was very compassionate and upset when I had my miscarriage and we had 2 follow up appointments to review all future options. So, if you want to go use Conceive but not necessarily see Dr P, then Munira is based at Dubai Mall medical centre. She only does the actual egg retrieval and transfer in Conceive. I was there during Ramadan and it was really quiet. edited by hilsbils on 21/10/2012

Hi aka, can I ask why you wouldn't go back to Conceive again? Hi Alowicious, Ive had my first icsi with Dr. P and had a son and then a frozen which didn't happen, then i had another icsi which didn't work and my third icsi in which i got pregnant but miscarried. I believe in Dr. P and his team of people and really feel that they get results but in my last treatment i felt that they had too many patients on and not enough people to care for them. I felt very vulnerable when i was doing my last treatment which resulted in a positive but when i had my miscarriage i just did not get any support at all......i felt so abandoned by them and it too me a long time to cope and constantly chasing up tests, appointments, etc as they do not have enough manpower to have a person dedicated to following up. Dr. Pankaj cannot give you more than 3-5 minutes of his time because he is only one man doing the job of many. When BH opened up i went to see Dr. Robertson who has previously worked with Dr. P in the UK. Since it is new , he sat with us for over an hour and discussed every possibility and since i am 40+ the risks involved. He made me to do a couple of tests in order to determine if it was feasible to go ahead and i got an email back from him about my results which were also attached for my reference, which touched my heart. They are very expensive, i think the most expensive at 37 a go, we have to really save up for it but i liked his bedside manner and frankness. I have only gone as far as tests and i will go for my follow up with Dr. Robertson to see what he will advise me. I like him personally out of the whole glam set up.....but i am very nervous and yet not have taken my decision to what i would like to do. When women go through any kind of fertility treatment, they are fully exposed, emotionally and physically. The amount of love and attention you need at that particular time in your treatment is so crucial, you feel raw and emotional all the time. Worrying constantly and needing reassurance. If this is my last attempt at icsi i would really like to be the correct thing for me. Wishing everyone all the best in their treatments! xx

If you do a search here there is another thread by another EW who said that she had to remain right on top of her treatment, educate herself about every step and detail and when the doctor had given the protocals, she made sure it was carried out. She would double check what the nurses were doing and very firmly remind someone what she felt the next step would be. Basically she said that she needed to be very assertive and proactive. I learned a lot from her thread (I havent tried looking for it but its here under Fakih) and stayed on top of things when I was having mine done. In other medical situations we tend be used to being 'minded' and guided.... "Ma'am please come with me, give blood, roll over, medications at 5am", etc and we can give ourselves up to the system but with IVF its really quite different. Its not the time for waiting for someone to guide us through step by step (although for the money you pay, you should get much more personal attention, quite frankly) or for shyness. I didnt use Dr Fakih for this reason. IVF sure isnt for the faint hearted! edited by hilsbils on 20/10/2012

Hi Nikki, I honestly had no problems with Fakih IVF in Dubai. I was going to Fakih IVF in Abu Dhabi and found them very difficult to deal with. I had a major run in with the IVF coordinator there, who told me that if i wanted to get pregnant I needed to relax (after I was annoyed because she never returned my calls) so unprofessional. I wanted to continue my treatment with Dr. Fakih but not in that clinic so we made the decision to make the commute to Dubai and it paid off. I did however do my treatment during Ramadan when the clinic was quieter and I was off work for the summer so I was very flexible with my time. I know it get very busy there at other times of the year and particularly in the evenings. You do need to expect that there will be some waiting time and that appointments don't always run on schedule, but this is the case in all the hospitals and clinics I've been to in this country. I agree with you though, you need to minimise your stress as much as possible, IVF is stressful enough as it is. Wishing you the best of luck with your decision! edited by Kylah on 20/10/2012 edited by Kylah on 20/10/2012

Hi everyone! I am new here and was wondering if anyone has been to Bourne Hall? I have previously had a successful pregnancy with Conceive and have a son. Have been to see Dr. Robertson at BH. Any ideas and thoughts about that? Thanks! x

I am currently with them under Dr Ammal. I do hear what you are saying but I do not think they are any more disorganised than Conceive - that's just my personal opinion. I think in this situation though you have to really keep on top of your own situation and not be afraid to push. The situation is too precious. Good Luck everyone xx

Ooh ladies, im surprised and concerned to read about problems with Fakih clinic :( I was hoping to have another cycle with them shortly ... Any current feedback you can share, would be greatly received. Its such a stressful thing for us to go through, the coordination at the clinic needs to be first class

Yes Bohoin I hear you. Not sure where you are originally from but Fakih and medicine in this country in general is a rude awakening to those of us used to professionalism and organization of medical doctors and clinics. The disorganization and miscommunication is frustrating but when they make errors which are inevitable when people are not reading files correctly or paying attention to protocol it can be devastating.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is having a hard time with Fakih IVF? I'm so frustrated with how disorganized they are and how difficult it is to get an appointment. When the cycle is so time-sensitive a single day's delay can be crucial. Half of the time they don't pick up the phone and there seems to be lack of communication between their staff. I do agree, however, with glowing reviews for nurse Madonna. She is terrific indeed, but the rest of the clinic is a total chaos. Quite frankly I'm starting to regret my decision to go with them, but I'm glad to hear that some other had good experiences. Perhaps my expectations were just too high.

Thank you for all your replies. At the moment I will go to Dr.Ashraf again just to follow up on our first appointment and see what his thoughts are. I will also go to Dr.Fakih and see what he thinks. Then who I feel more comfortable with I will complete the treatment with. I will keep you all posted. Thanks again!

I would also like to highly recommend Dr. Fakih. As soon as we found out that IVF was our only option, I called Faikh IVF. I was able to meet with Dr. Fakih within 3 days of my diagnosis (this is one of things I like best about this clinic, they are open long hours and it is very easy to organise an appointment there, without long waits). I found him supportive and reassuring. He preformed a laproscopy on me before we began IVF, I was very happy with the treatment I received. He reassured me that I would get pregnant and he was true to his word, as I am now almost 12 weeks pregnant with twins!! We were extremely happy with care and communication that we received at Fakih IVF. All the staff there are lovely and very helpful, from the receptionists, to the embryologists and nurses. As far as I know their success rates are the best in the Middle East! I wish you the best of luck with your decision and future treatment x

Hi T85, I personally would highly recommend Dr Fakihs clinic and would not recommend Dr Pankaj at Conceive. I did two rounds with Pankaj and one with Fakih and now currently preggers with twins through Dr Fakih. I have posted quite a bit on this forum about it, feel free to contact me if you would like further info. MB xxx edited by Mummabear on 31/01/2013

I recommend Enjab Hospital , Dr. Ashraf is great he knows what he's doing,I did my IVF this month with him and I'm waiting to do my BETA tomorrow ..wish me luck! but if I'm unfortunate and had a BFN i"ll still re-try with Dr. Ashraf. Hi, I’m new to EW. i came across this website when i was doing some research regarding ivf clinics in Dubai and Sharjah. i am now considering going to Dr. Ashraf in Enjab hospital mainly because of location. i would like to know on what basis do you recommend him (is that compared to other doctors?) or due to his success rate..or...?. Dr.Fakih and Dr. Mohd (DGFC?) are mentioned a lot. but Dr. Ashraf’s name pops up every now and then. another option is Sharjah is conceive clinic, but it seems not upto date to the other clinics? I’m very confused. hope i can get some more information about the sharjah clinics and if i should just go to Dr.Fakih (very recommended it seems on this site)? thanks in advance

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share with you the overwhelming joy I witnessed from the first couple who borne a baby at New Hope Hospital! Seeing the baby moved her tiny fingers and grin really melts the new parents heart as well as mine and everyone else at the Hospital! Soon, I will be experiencing the same happiness!

Thank you jhaz! So nice to share some good feelings with other couples like us and of course would love to share the blessings we got with the help from NEW HOPE HOSPITAL! For IVF, I paid Dhs. 15,500. Once you have started the stimulation, you need to come only 3-4 times and then your pick up, or should I say the procedure per se.They are situated at the beginning of Sharjah behind Al Taawun Mall. You can call their number 06 5254446 if you have further queries.

Without New Hope my dream of becoming a mother would have not been successful. With happioness overflowing there's nothing that I could think of than to give my warmest thanks to the Staff at New Hope Hospital! All the sufferring and the frustrations I felt when I started the injections and the medication have disappeared the moment I saw the support and dedication of the Staff to make my stress levels and my husband's as low as possible. As a matter of fact I think that treatment for infertility should be psychological as well as medical. We people suffering from infertility undergo a lot of psychological and financial pressure that is why finding people who understand us and try to help us through our ordeal is of utmost importance. May God bless all who care.

Hi Birchy, I totally agree it's a personal thing. For me and my husband, the success rate and reputation were the most important criteria, especially since it was quite an expensive thing to do. So our decision to choose Dr. Fakih was based on that. After all we were there to have a baby regardless of the doctor's personality. I really hope you get pregnant, so please keep me posted. Rekhs, you are really brave. Believe it or not I always closed my eyes while taking the shots, so I don't know what that needle looks like! I used to ask the nurse to let me know when it was "out" so I could relax. I was such a terrible case. But you seem to be doing just fine, except for the headaches. I don't recall having any headaches. Perhaps you should check that out with the doctor or nurse?

Its good to read a thread like this and Felix was good to read your experience with the transfer, can I ask how much your treatment totalled in Dhs? My DH and I are very lucky to have concieved a beautiful son following a successful Vasectomy reversal. My son is 1.5 yrs old and we decided to have a sibling for him. We have been trying since August 2011 with no luck. My DH had a SA yesterday and his very low count has decreased to 4million per ml and zero motility. We are both devastated to say the least. When we were trying for our son we were told that we would need IVF treatment and went to see Dr Fakih. I didn't know during our initial consultation that we were already 2 weeks pregnant! Dr Fakih was very to the point and 1 minute from meeting him he said we needed IVF. My DH didn't like the feel of the clinic and to be honest I didn't take to Dr Fakih at all so we went away feeling like there was no hope. I am now faced with the desicion of whether to go ahead with IVF or not so reading this thread has been very helpful. I don't work but I do look after my son full time and obviously would have to make some childcare arrangements for my visits to the clinic. Its a lot to think about! I never thought this would happen to us but at least we have been blessed with our son :) Good luck everyone We had the same feelings, if you read my other post on a second opinion we were really put off by Dr F to be honest :(, but as I have said before it is a very personal thing and what may work for one couple may not work for the other. It would seem that our opinions are very much the same and I would recommend having a consultation with Dr Wael @ DGFC we loved him and are moving forward..

Dear Felix, Hope you are well. I went for my consultation and ended up starting my treatment the same day! dr. Michael did the ultrasound as well I had low reserves of eggs and since I was on my period, he suggested it was the best time to start the treatment so there I was standing getting my shots and was petrified! Actually today is my 4th day and I give the shots myself! Emla helps so not bad at all! Saves me the hassle of running to the clinic, I do it after dinner and it's ok and can take it! Tmrw is my ultrasound to see how I am progressing so will know more tomorrow! I just hope it all ends well! Thank you so much for thinking of me, but I must confess, I get really bad headaches! And can't sleep at night coz of headaches, did u experience any symptoms?
