We are desperate to find our black and tan, female Chihuahua, Pixie. She was being walked in the large desert-y area where villa construction began about 18 months ago, between Al Wasl Road and Road 10a, in Um Suqiem. Emirates International School is at one end and Star International School at the other.

We do not live around that location, but the take the dogs for walks there, so she does not know her way around that area. Someone else's large dog frightened her on the late afternoon / evening of Friday 14th January and she took off running. After extensive searching, ringing on door bells and talking to workmen, security guards, and passers-by, we believe that she went running along the road (10a) which runs parrallel to Al Wasl Road and is no longer in the desert patch. We have done all the usual things - phoned K9, been to the vets, and are in process of organising posters / flyers. I will attach pictures of her to this message when I can figure out how.

Pixie is about 4 years old, neutered, microchipped, but unfortunately not wearing her collar when she ran away. She is the most loving and affectionate little dog and easily frightened. She gets cold quickly and we are so worried that this will be her second night out. If you live around this area or walk your own dogs around here, PLEASE keep an eye out for her. A generous reward is offered to anyone who can help us find her. If you have any information, please call: 050 4560853. Thanks.

AMAZING AND MIRACULOUS NEWS!!!!!!! PIXIE HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!!!!!! I AM HYSTERICAL WITH JOY! A wonderful chap phoned about an hour and a half ago to say he had her. She was found in the middle of the road outside Jumeriah Lake Towers at 2.45 am this morning. He and his wife took her to get her checked out and got the microchip number. He asked me to read the number I had for her, and as I got to the last 3 digits, he read out the final numbers exactly. Well I just bawled and bawled and he asked me why was I crying, and shouldn't I be happy! :) I wanted to race over there myself and pick her up, but my maid / nanny has gone off for the evening therefore no babysitter, so the Ex has gone to get Pixie and I am waiting impatiently for him to arrive with her. Thank you to Hamid and his wife at Saba Towers 2, Jumeriah Lake Towers for finding her and looking after her and having the exteme kindness to buy her food and toys etc. It was the dubizzle ad that led him to me. So big thank yous to the originators of that great website! And thank you to all you kind ladies with your words of support and advice. It helps such a lot. I am really overwhelmed with relief. But the question remains - how on earth did she get from the Star International School area to Jumeriah Lake Towers?

Poor Pixie, such a sweetheart & by the looks of it a good foster parent, I've seen some posters today - hope you get good news soon, I'm walking up Beach Road in the morning will keep a keen eye out for her. If you have any spare posters I can post them at JPS tomorrow. edited by CRx2 on 17/01/2011

oh my, just seeing the photos made heartsore. I PRAY that you find your pixie, you need to make sure you look in hedges, areas where she would try to seek shelter. physically walk the routes, do you need people to walk with you, to call out her name/knock on doors?

Thank you all for your replies. Your support is really appreciated. I thought this thread had been deleted as I couldn't find it; only the same one I had posted on the pets forum. The latest news is that I got a call from a lovely lady this evening saying she had seen Pixie yesterday at 2pm walking past the Jumeriah Beach Hotel in the direction of the Burj Al Arab. - Poor Pixie has crossed a lot of roads to get there, which is a worry. My estranged husband is at this moment driving up and down the road in this new location. I have personally handed out flyers to every gardener and maid, security guard, construction worker etc in the areas where she was walked and spotted late on Friday evening, telling them the reward is Dhs 1,000 plus. However, I did not imagine she would have travelled so far and have not done so along the Beach Road. This is next. Here is the Dubizzle link for photos of her. (unfortunately I do not have any of her without a foster kitten. She is particularly good at keeping them warm, well licked and comforted.) http://dubai.dubizzle.com/classified/lostfound/lost/pets/2011/1/16/the-most-loved-little-dog-ever-is-missing--2/?back=Y2xhc3NpZmllZC9sb3N0Zm91bmQv&ps=4

Hopefully by now she is being cared for by somebody. It is really a good idea to offer a specific amount as a reward and make sure that this gets passed around the maids, drivers and gardeners in the area. They can get behind the doors and gates and find her. Saying Dhs XXX reward is so much better than saying "reward offered". We got one of our dogs back this way when a driver told us that she was with a family in a huge house nearby. Good luck

Are you anywhere near the springs? If so I can take a poster to Star at pick up time and see if they will put it up. Not sure if they wil but worth a try. I leave just after 12.00 to pick my daughter up
