Dear All -

I just went for my 12 week (+ a few days) scan yesterday at the Fetal Medicine Clinic. I had Dr Pour Mirza do my scan and he was great .... I asked about if he could tell what the *** was and I never expected him to say 'yes'!!. Anyway next thing you know he says he is 90% sure it is a girl. My hubby and I were so so sooooooo sure it is a boy .... just intuition I guess. Obviously Im delighted either way and just so happy that the bubs is doing well and all healthy but I am just so intrigued as to how many other have been to FMC and had the gender predicted at 12 weeks and had it be correct or incorrect.

It is almost even more exciting now because he said it is a girl but we are still thinking it is a boy ....

PS. Sorry about my title being in CAPS - I didnt realise how annoying it would look amongst the other threads!

Id love to hear your stories :) xxx

I went at around 14 weeks and was told as soon as he turned on the monitor (which was a shock) it was a boy and he was ... I did see the proof thou and at every scan afterwards would ask to check :) haha

At 11+6 Dr. Pour Mirza told us that he was 99% sure that we were having a boy. And we had a girl! He also did this to four other friends of mine and got three of them wrong. My Ob/Gyn told me that it was his 'speciality' and he was quite well know for predicting the *** of babies at a stage so early it was really quite hard to tell and getting them wrong..... mmmm.... there's always a 50:50 chance but I certainly wouldn't buy any pink yet...

LOL, enjoy this special time and enjoy the suspense of the whole gender prediction. Maybe wait till your next scan before you start buying pink stuff... :D

Aaaarrrggghhh it's soooo exciting and Im so anxious ... I NEED to know! I heard its the mother who has the baby dreams but my hubby wakes up with all sorts of baby dreams and he is convinced it's a boy and now I am not so sure after what Dr Mirza said. Im heading over to the USA next week and was planning to buy ALL my baby clothes and bits from there and I had planned out everything in my head for a boy - like cute little Ralph Lauren outfits and all sorts and now I will have to wait until I get back to be sure ..... Maybe I'll just buy whatever I like and whatever the *** the baby will have to make do :) Im not sure if boys dressed in pretty dresses is considered child abuse ;)

I think it's too early, imagine your disappointment if he's wrong! My doc wouldn't tell me until 16 weeks as she said you can't be sure at 12!

The day I went for my 12 weeks scan my friend was there the same time. We both saw the same doc as you (I thought he was great too ;)) and he correctly told both myself and my friend the genders of our babies. Of course he said he was only 90% sure, just in case as I'm sure its very possible to get it wrong. He does these scans all day, everyday and with a cooperative baby its a pretty 'safe' bet that he is correct. But I guess there is always room for error. :D We were convinced we were having a boy and when he said girl I nearly fell off the bed in shock! Was a lovely, lovely surprise! edited by shellly on 14/03/2011

generally speaking, 12 weeks is early... very early, to get an accurate view, iyswim. Saying that, with experience and a cooperative baby, sure, it's possible, but to be honest, wait until the 20 week scan before you start buying pink stuff!
