So I head off to my fave salon to get my roots done and ask the hair dresser to wash my hair a second time as it doesnt feel clean. She gets thoroughly ****** off and after that my whole experience is a nightmare. She pulls my hair while brushing and via her rough and careless movements manages to poke me in my eye with her long, sharp and pointy fingernails. I am all for women looking good, but shouldn't people in this profession be more careful? I am lucky i got away with just a red eye, but this lady could have caused serious damage. When i complained to the manager, i get a reply - but you have been coming here for years and never had a problem. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........

Had nothing but good service from HairWorks at JBR and Ibn Batutta. Haven't gone anywhere else since I started gong there about two years ago. I usually do my own colour to save money but they do a nice cut, and trim the fringe for free later.

you know haidressers in Dubai are bad when you get a better cut at Just Cuts in Sydney for $40AUD then you do at a 'ritzy' salon in Dubai... I don't bother with anything like that in DXB anymore, I just colour my hair myself and get a cabin crew who used to be a hairdresser to cut my hair in exchange for wine!!! Works for me :D Hopefully you drink the wine after the cut!

Both Sam and Shakira at Pastels Salon on Al Wasl Road are very good with blonde roots and highlights. Not cheap, but you don't come out wearing 8 different shades of blue. I have tried many hairdressers in Dubai and have decided they are the best for me. Have not tried the much vaunted Elaine of Ted Morgan's, though - perhaps I should. Oh my gosh! I didn't know that reading this thread would be so stinkin funny!!! Some of you ladies really gave me a good laugh- thank you!! Personally, I think it's great when they blow dry your hair and not only do they burn the **** out of your scalp, but SMOKE is coming off of it !!!!'. SMOKE, PEOPLE!!!! Yeah! and they burn your head as well. I am sure if I shaved my hair off, I would have burn marks all over.

I went to get a massage recently and the therapist had long nails and she scratched me!!!!! I left of course I felt sick to my stomach the feeling of her nails digging into my skin was disgusting. I complained to the manager but she was not particularly disturbed.

I'm new to this forum so not sure if I am allowed to name and shame but I tried a place called Glitz in Barsha, absolutely awful, the worst hair salon I;ve ever been to. This was the place where they dyed my hair blue. They put on the peroxide then left toner on for 45 mins. I've had blonde hair for 3 years so wondered why on earth she had purple toner on my hair for so long - when she rinsed it off I had smurf hair! All the salon girls were giggling, no one apologised, the manager refused to come out from "backstage" and speak with me, so I told them I wasn't paying and they should pay ME to rectify the mistake at a different salon. Eventually they did, as they admitted they weren't sure they could remedy the error themselves but the whole attitude of everyone that it was all a big joke was appalling - especially as I work in a client facing role and can't have blue hair! Not even that, I don't want blue hair lool! Perhaps you should ask mods to change your user name to "the dangerous blue"; although perhaps that has an alternative meaning :\: ahahah - I swear, the "customer service movement" will take hold in Dubai if everyone wills it and continues to complain and demand good service! What incentives do employees have to actually care? As long as people continue to pay what they pay, hire unqualified staff, etc. nothing will change. Exactly!! It doesn't matter what we pay for the service--if they aren't seeing any of that, well there you go. I still have water in my ears from my last shampoo. Love my stylist--but the shampoo girl is not my BFF :(

Ive had the back of my neck and the tops of my ears burnt with the blow drier, ive had my hair frazzled and in a frizzy mess. an uneven fringe, uneaven colour hair pulled so hard that I suffered from whiplash ... Ive had the point of the scissors scrape the side of my face .. i could go on .. all in dubai

When I first arrived in Doha back in 2009, I tried a hair salon recommended by DH's boss's wife. First time was a cut and blowdry which was fine but second time I decided to trust them with a colour and cut BIG MISTAKE!! I ended up with yucky brown hair styled like Oliver Twist and clothes splattered in dye. I was fuming and refused to pay the ridiculous 400 QR I was asked for. The Western owner appeared from her office and demanded to know what the problem was. Told her that I wasn't paying as not satisfied. She threatened to call the police and being new to Qatar I was pretty shaken up. I pointed out my damaged clothes and said that they were new and I had receipts at home (I didn't but they were fairly new) I knew that DH was waiting outside so I threw a 50 QR note at the owner, yelled that I wouldn't be back and legged it! Fortunately DH was right outside. Needless to say I never went back. Am safely home so can say "Don't go near London Salon beside the big book place (forgotten the name!)

I went to one salon and when they washed my hair, they literally drenched my entire back in the process! I got stuck under about 3 hair dryers as they tried to dry me off! Not a pleasant experience. I also hate it when they manage to burn your ears with the dryer - seriously?!

I hate the subject of hairdressers im at my wits end. Went to a very well thought of place in JLT my hair was 2 colours. Went to another place someone told me about as my hair is now highlighted (got it done to perfection whilst at home UK and about 70% cheaper than here) its a god awful mess its brassy there must be about 8 different shades running through it, not blended in nicely at all. Is it too much to ask to have a decent set of highlights done!! Rant over :( Have to say i know its not remotely funny at the time but i can just imagine Dangerous Blondes face when smurf hair appeared :(

I went to a Japanese salon here once and they refused to dye my hair as they had noone qualified to do it. They cut my hair instead and I was very happy with their honesty

water's always lovely at mine (the girl asks several times if it's ok) and she does that lovely head massage thing....most hairdressers i've had have failrly long nails - i've always wondered how they do it when their hands get so wet all the time ...false i guess.. Can't fault Ted Morgan at Motor City - colour's spot on and they're all so lovely...
