Hi Guys, I am in the UK at the moment. We are looking to move very soon and hubby has just come back from viewing a villa in Falcon City. He loves it. We need to make a decision now about it. Just wondered if anyone could give me some info on the place. I don't drive but I do know there is a shop nearby so that isn't a problem. What is it like to get taxi's to come out? Where is the closest bar/restaurant? and just in general what is it like living there, the pro's and cons.

Thanks in advance

We have friends in Falcon City, we love going to visit because its so quiet and the villa is lovely. However, personally couldnt live there as there isnt even a small shop. If you run out of something you have to mess about going onto Emirates Road (basically a massive highway). We like having shops nearby and the odd restaurant for last minute changes of plan.

Ah, well if you're moving from the triangle, I think you'll have no problems here! :D Also check out: falconcity.webs.com Kind of slow, but there's some helpful info on there.

As I said I don't drive, but for the past two years I have lived in Jumeirah Village Triangle and it is a building site, they are just now putting some trees in!! I don't mind getting taxi's everywhere, I just want somewhere (when it cools down) that I can go for a nice walk, or bike ride and have nice scenery around me for a change. Did consider Springs but when we found this villa, it is big, own pool, my husband just fell in love with it!! Thank you :D

It might be a little difficult to live here without your own car. It really depends on how much you're going out, shopping, etc. There's the small shop for minimal groceries (small enough that it's in a little trailer but since they say temporary I'm hoping they're building something bigger!) and then Silicon is close for Spinney's, Starbucks, and pharmacy. I just don't want to mislead you into thinking that we're surrounded by all these places! Everything requires a quick hop onto Emirates Road. I really love the neighborhood and the villas are very spacious so if you really don't mind taking taxis everywhere then you'll probably enjoy it here. Just know that there's nothing within walking distance except the tiny shop.

Thanks Floridagirl :) The villa my husband viewed looked great. Where we live at the moment there isn't anything so a small shop is a major bonus! Whereas the pool and playground, isn't something we require so that doesn't bother us at all. One worry was being isolated but it sounds like it is very close to a lot of places. Thank you

I really enjoy living here. Some people don't like it because there are no community amenities (pool, playground, etc). If you call the taxi number, one will be here in 10-15 minutes. They're dispatched from Arabian Ranches. A small temporary market just opened here (and I mean small!) but you can get milk and toilet paper and other small things without going to the Spinney's in Silicon Oasis (about 5 minutes away). Mirdif City Center and Motor City are 10 minutes away and I can be parked at Dubai Mall right under 15 minutes. Those all would be your nearest restaurants and I have no idea about bars.
