Hi we're moving soon and we're wondering how much DEWA would cost for a 3 bed villa. Atm we're in a very big 3 bed apt and it's only AED650 per month... I guess it would be more than that.

What other hidden costs are there in a villa? E.g. how much is a gardener?

TIA x

I'm in an older 3 bed small villa and pay between 400 and 600 on DEWA (excl housing fee of 580 per month) depending on the time of year. We have a small front and rear garden that gets watered once a day and have the aircon upstairs at night in the summer but as we're both out all day, not during the daytime in the week much. We don't bother with a gardener - we take 15 mins out of our day to do the plants ourselves and have a sprinkler on a timer for the lawn.

Thanks for your responses, ladies. AED2500 in the summer months is in line with what I have heard... esp for older villas. Is it true that in villas you also have to pay municipality tax? TIA x

"wow- wish I had your low bills! Where is this? " I live in Um Suquiem: I haven;t been here very long an must admit I thought that the bills would be much, much higher. I got a bill today funnily enough....it was 598 aed. I also checked with a colleague on the housing fee as wondered whether it was really correct we didn't pay it, but that is correct.

I live in a 4 bed and the bills are way lower than this. About 250-300 in winter and has now gone up to 600. Garden and other maintainance (including water sprinklers) and community pool / gym etc are included in the rent (the rent is relatively high though because of this). The AC was never on in the winter and we only use it in the bedrooms now; I did put it on in the sitting room but it was too cold! We have some sort of film / special glass ? that keeps the house very cool. wow- wish I had your low bills! Where is this?

Well! We live in a 3 bed villa, with big garden with mostly grass which has irrigation. Our Dewa bills can rise to 2500 aed per month in the summer months. Winter is generally around 1000aed (and I am quite careful with lights and a/c) This is similar to us in a 4 bed plus maid. Gardener is 300 for the OP's question. Similar to us as well [in a 4-bed + maids'>. Our gardener is 350dhs and pool maintenance 400 p/m.

I should clarify, given that I apparently have the lowest bills in Dubai (!) that I don't pay housing fee, so the amount I mentioned is water and electricity only

Our bill last month was 1700 inc housing fee and will probably go up a little bit for the next few months but then drops down in the winter months to around 700-800 inc housing fee. Our shared pool, garden etc is all included in our rent so we don't have those costs.

My DEWA last month was 1600 and this month 1700 in a springs villa 3 bed plus maids. the month before those two it was around 800 and it was as low as 400 during the winter. I have no pool, just sprinklers for the garden. We're using the AC a lot more now so probably why its so much more expensive. We have the AC off all winter. ETA: This is not including housing fee. edited by AdviceSeeker on 31/05/2011
