Does anyone know the procedure to get a replacement birth certificate for someone born in Dubai in the early 1980s? The person has not been a resident in the UAE since the early 1990s.

They have lost the original but have a photocopy as well as original Birth Notification from Kuwaiti Hospital (now Al Baraha Hospital). I am going to make a trip down to Al Baraha with copies of the documents that they do have and see what they say.

I was hoping someone on here might know what the actual procedures might be so I don't go around in circles for too long to get this sorted.

Thanks.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it isn't for a British national and it was issued over 30 years ago! I made a trip down to Al Baraha hospital and they said they will go through the old records to try and find it. In the meanwhile, I've been advised to put together the necessary paperwork authorising me to collect it on their behalf. I hope they do find it as they didn't give me a clear answer as to what would happen if they can't find it!!

If it is a British birth certificate, then try this: https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate I had to do this a few years back and was very quick and easy. My boys were born in Dubai in 2000 and I lost the certificates. The UK had copies of them. HTH edited by wiggywig on 16/03/2014
