Life and British schools in RAK?

Hello out there!! (again) We have been looking to move for a while from our apartment in the Greens, Dubai. Very nice, and super convenient for school drop off/pick up, but boy is life expensive here. Now, my husband's employment has changed suddenly (bit of a shock but we are ok), and it looks like we will be moving to Ras Al Khaimah. I've already begun enquiring about the Ras Al Khaimah Academy (looks to me like it is the only British curriculum school there) My kids are 4 and 7, and although it isn't ideal to change schools suddenly, it looks like that's what's happening.
So, I wanted to ask does anyone have kids who go there? Do you like it? Do the kids like it?
Also, my husband has told me that property there is a LOT less expensive than Dubai. I can see how this would be the case as it costs a lot to live within the limits of any big city. But is property really THAT cheap?
I understand that life in RAK will be a lot quieter than in Dubai (this is ok for me as we really only need the pool, the beach, a play area, a little mall or shop, that is fine for me) but is there something else I'm missing?
Are there other expats about?
Thanks so much ladies!

Dear Shelbo, I'm sure you'll get some good advice on here but in the meantime we've a guide to like in RAK that may help http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_faqs HTH Although I would hardly call RAK Academy presitigious :D You can't search for RAK on here but you can search for RAK* (has to be 4 characters min.) Yes, RAK Academy is the only British school in RAK (it's also the only IB school in RAK). I have one in IB primary which is fine and one in secondary which is not fine. I've heard very good things about the BC campus. There are two main gated communities - Al Hamra Village and Mina Al Arab. Rents for townhouses can be from 60k and for villas, 100k. Prices for properties outside these, ie in local areas are VERY cheap. For what you're asking, one of the two above sounds perfect. AHV has a few pools and play areas. The beach and Al Hamra Mall (with Spinneys) may be walking distance or a short drive away depending on where in the community you are located. In MAA all villas or townhouses are within a very short walk from the beach, pool or play area. There is no shop yet but a Choithram is due to open within MAA in a few months. There are two Carrefours and a LuLu in RAK. Plenty of expats in RAK :)
