If they're Indian, I'm sure she'll appreciate the gold earrings. My mom still has most of the jewellery I got as a kid... it's something everyone treasures because its cute n small. Oh, and reminds you of the time when the kids didn't have a mind of their own :D

If it was my closest friend I'd spend more to get something special to keep. A photo album is good and you can write something nice on the inside. But its not about the amount you spend it's the thought and if you are on a budget than what you have already spend is more than enough.

How about a photo album or a hand & feet print kit. There is a nice kit at magrudy's with a photo frame & it's for AED 100-130 I think.

Thanks, actually my friend has everything I think since she has another girl. I already bought her some gold baby earrings (they pierce the babies ears since they are small, they are from India) that cost me 200 dhs ( got a good deal) but my husband thinks is too less that I should have spent another 100 dhs, what do you think?

Agree with the clothes thing, I ended up giving away most of them. If you know she needs something for her baby get it for her, or go for gift vouchers from a good mall or Mothercare. We also got as gifts a pram, bouncy chair, highchair for later use, a jumperoo, moses basket & a travel cot, we used all those. If it's her 1st baby, she will need lots of stuff, but if she has more, she might have many stuff from he previous babies. edited by wickedangel_78 on 12/01/2011

I don't think the amount is important. Lots people give clothes, I had my baby in London, I was going every other day to Next, Mothercare, Debehams etc to exchange clothes or try to get a refund. Because you end up with loads of 0-3 months size, and there only so much of it a child can wear, not only that they grow up so fast most of the stuff remains unworn. My friend gave my son a bath towel and travel changing mat, both not expensive but every useful. I will be using the changing mat for a quite long time. Best of luck with present hunting.
