I've tried a few different brands of chicken breasts but they all have a funny taste, and the ingredients list is very long for just chicken breasts :-/ I thought about buying from the Organic Store but had a look on their website and it's more than I can afford.

Where can I buy breasts and/or a whole chicken that doesn't have a load of cr4p added to it and tastes nice?

Just for the sake of clarity, I've had a look at Reghalal's website, and they don't offer organic chicken, it's free-range "Label Rouge" ("poulet fermier", not the same as "agriculture biologique", or "bio"). Very good quality, but not strictly organic. Oops! thanks for the clarification simpleasabc! In fact it's not organic! its my french/english translation that went wrong...:\:

Usually I buy it from spinneys, waitrose, always Sadia or Perdix brands (they are halal) and Sometimes i buy the "fresh" ones when in a hurry to cook something fast!

I buy the Fresh organic French chicken in Carrefour, the brand is Reghalal, they're expensive but worth it! Its what I'm used to buying back home. But keep in mind that they don't have much stock in Carrefour, they do often run out of this brand!

Try a Doux brand frozen whole chicken from Carrefour. They are from France where they will not let anyone mess with their food. We had chickens on the farm back home and these chickens look, feel and taste like real chickens. Also, learn to be meticulous with cleaning up and sanitizing your kitchen after dealing with raw defrosted chickens. Just try one, you will be a convert. Bon appetit!

I have shopped at Waitrose every week for the last two and a half years and bought chicken there every week. I used to raise my own chickens from "day old chicks", then kill and prepare them so I know what "real" chicken is and feels like. I have no problem with Waitrose chicken and would recommend it to anyone. No I don't work for them, just shop there cos it's convenient. In the black plastic trays? the feel of it alone makes me feel ill! really slimy.:cool:

I buy my chicken from Spinney's which is packed by Spinney's in their own packaging. I don't buy frozen chicken. I freeze it when I get home. Never had a problem and it tastes like chicken to me. If you are concerned it has been frozen before then just buy and use on the day rather that freezing and defrosting when needed. Ultimately if you look too closely at any food whether it be red meat, fruits/veg and even fish (mercury!!!) you will find there is something that isn't healthy. So should we all stop eating altogether? Would do wonders for my waistline but maybe not a good idea in the long run ;) edited by chants39 on 17/08/2011 Chants please check the underside of the spinneys chicken-the one that comes in the black plastic tub....it says 'do not refreeze'-its always defrosted chicken so you shouldnt freeze it again

C4 has a traditional meat counter (MCC) and I purchased fresh chicken their the other day.Its from Oman.It was pretty good. Also the french halal chicken , its bit more but very good too. i also buy Kazhna..much better option to us, then other chicken with ingredient's list.

I live in mirdif so shop in MCC. They sell 2 types of fresh French chicken, one farm chicken more expensive and a cheaper one corn fed. Both are excellent. Lots of meat and very little water comes out when you cook the bird. The brand is regaled I think.

I buy it much less frequently than I did before moving here... and only at the organic shop in Dubai Mall. I'm not sure it hasn't been frozen, so only buy what I need, not to "stock up". It seems that a lot of other brands inject or soak theirs in something to bulk it up... And as I have a young daughter I worry about hormones in all of them. Good tip about Carrefour though, will check out their offerings. Thanks Shaks!

I always buy the fresh French chicken from carrefour. It is cornfed and the quality is very good. I don't go to Carrefour very often because I get lost in the MoE carpark, though I can now, after almost a year, find my way home from there without going half-way to Sharjah first ;) I love French cornfed chicken, are they really flown in fresh from France? So you find them at the poultry counter on the left past the bread counter, is that right?

Might be better off just sticking to fish :( I pretty much live on organic salmon, but you would be ok with chops, T-bones and any meat with the bone in as far as the glue issue is concerned. What really gets me about that meat glue is this has been going on secretly for some time in the meat and food service industry, its not been banned in the US, Canada, Australia or the EU, and you can pay top dollar or dirham for "prime cuts" when in fact it is likely to be scrag end thats been glued up with toxic ****. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 17/08/2011</em>

Yes, I don't buy chicken at all, I occasionally buy turkey portions as its not so mass produced as chicken and relatively safer, anyway its a healthier meat than chicken and just as tasty. Do you eat a lot of red meat? That meat glue thing has shocked me. No I don't especially the boneless types as they can so easilly be meat glued stuff! You are safer with bone in meat than filets, roasts eye of round types cuts.
