Ladies

I am on the verve of signing up for a 5 year Genarali bond and wanted to know if anyone else has and what where your experiences?

Just a bit concerned as it is an Italian insurance company & with the current state in Europe I am a little cautious.

Look forward to your feedback.

A Dubai based IFA suggested we invest in a long term plan with Generali last year but did some research with the help of my dad, and some UK advisors, and they said don't touch it. I don't know anything about these kinds but my dad pretends to! A Towry Law, a UK advisor told us to never ever sign up to a contractual Savings Plan with GWM - either with Generali or Skandia. Apparently, you will lose the first 2 years payments in commissions... Old posts but check out: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3396314 Its all about how it is managed and what you invest in. Mine isn't too bad and also have a 5 year plan. My advisor did mention that Generali is good for short term plans as the fees are not too bad, but long term plans with them are very expensive so not a good option.

Would any of you share who your advisor is? I have an eight year Generali plan, 5 years in and it hasn't performed very well. I haven't lost any money, it seems to be worth what I've paid in give take a $ or two, but it certainly hasn't added any value. Ours was also not doing very well, but Neil Grant @ Prosperity has turned it around for us, and we are now seeing positive results - thank goodness! We are very happy with our 5 year Generali - it is an Italian company, but the investment is held offshore in Guernsey, so not in Europe perse

We are in one of their managed funds and have been for the last three years, we have been very happy with the performance and I am active with our advisor on the allocation of assets. So far it's been a good investment for us. That's good to know. Thank You.
