Just wanted to say that 2 days after I posted my comment on here about my experience, Cobone has an offer for a Moroccan Bath! I guess my prayers were answered :P The deal is Moroccan bath, Loreal hair treatment and a foot reflexology for 144 dhs :) Pretty good deal me thinks!

yes you have too book. The room is steamy so gives you the illusion that you are hidden.

Thanks Izzy, Do you need to book in advance. I look horrible without things on, and feeling shy. But I would love to try it on someday after I loose all that flab. :(

Was faboulous. Went in and got changed into my disposable knickers and a wrap and went for a 10 minute sauna (did think that i might as well have just sat outside). The Moroccan lady came to get me and let me by the hand to the treatment room, which was hot and steamy. she took off my dressing gown and wrap and promptly whipped of my disposable knickers, so was starkers. She told me to lay down on the treatment table and washed me with black soap - did actually feel like a baby being washed. she left the soap on for 10 mins . when she came back she scrubbed me with a hand loffer (which i had to buy and now have) after the full body scrub i had to wash in the shower, she then sat me on the stool and washed my hair - then back up on the table where she massaged my hair with conditioner. Then she covered me in honey, milk and rosewater masque - almost had a comedy moment of sliding of the table trying to turn over but managed to avoid it - just. She covered my eyes with a ice cold flannel and let me chill for 10 mins. Then another shower to wash all the masque and conditioner off. She then let me to the cold shower - where i did actually scream - was ****** freezing. Then i dried myself and she put moisturiser on me. Afterwards dressing gown on and a nice cup of mint tea.... Was bliss... My skin is so smooth - however she has removed all of my tan and three quarters of all my freckles!!!! Highly recommend DLC for a deluxe hammam; however not for the shy or pruddish....

I've had a Moroccan bath at Beauty Spot on Wasl Road. My oh my is it good!! I felt so ashamed of how much dead skin came off but it was great - I was as soft as a baby's bottom :P And yes, there is really no need to wear anything... The therapist doesn't leave anything unscrubbed (except for the face which I requested to leave alone because of how sensitive my face is). You will love it! Let us know how it goes :)

I've been to the One and Only and wore a bikini but I may as well not have because there's no part they leave undone and take everything off you lol. They are very professional and well gentle for the lack of better words and I wasn't conscious after the first ten minutes because there's steam everywhere and you can't see much in there. Enjoy yourself, I loved the experience and hope you do too!

I went to the hamman in Damscus....I was starkers but draped. Definitely all female staff! It was an 'invigorating' experience!

i had mine last week and natalie8 is right you shouldnt be wearing anything .... it was kind of weird but since the room was full of steam and the therapist was very discreet and respectful it did turn out well .... but i didnt like the smell ETA- had mine at a small inexpensive place ... might be different for high-end places

I want to know which one you're going to too and I want a full review aterwords. :) Since hammam involves a combination of steam, a scrub and a shower, you're better off not wearing anything. You'll be covered in towels and massage / spa therapists are trained to be very discreet and respectful during all procedures. edited by natalie8 on 09/06/2011

Oooo! That sounds fab Izzy! which one are you going to? I havent been to one here, but when I went to one in Turkey, it was bikini bottoms only. Was a little weird considering it was a Dude doin the treatment.....wearing the tiniest little budgey smugglers I've ever seen in my entire life!! ;) Hope you enjoy! :)
