I only use Posh Paws and have done for some years. They collect and deliver for a small fee but they are also happy for you to go there and look at where your dogs would be for boarding. Ours come back clean, healthy and very happy.
Thanks for your replies, yes we usually use Homely Petz but we will be away for a month so I think it is too long for the dogs to be by themselves in the house for so long.
We left our cats at Pet Palace a couple of times whilst on holidays and they were good. I know they accommodate dogs as well.
Also found Posh Paws on the internet which looked very good and specious but don't have any personal experience with them.
Alternatively you can pay someone to come and feed and walk your dog. That's what we do now with out cats. We pay someone's maid but I know there are companies that can do it.
My dog wasnt in there and I definitely wouldnt want some random stranger going in and "checking" out the dogs. I would definitely leave my boy there for a holiday. I wasnt too bothered about not being let in and Im sure if I pushed it or said I wanted to go in they would allow it. I liked the fact that they didnt allow me too, I have a fear (maybe irrational) that dogs are "cased" here for stealing and its my worst nightmare.
That would make me [b'>highly suspicious [/b'>if i wasn't allowed to go into the boarding area.
My aunt used to run a kennels and cattery in the UK and ALWAYS allowed owners to go in and view.
Woof - I went out yesterday and looked at their boarding arrangements whilst my dog was having a groom. They are in new larger premises and have what I thought was really good accommodation for the dogs, they have an outside area for small and large dogs and a pool. What I really liked was that they wouldnt let me go into the boarding areas, nor into the day care facility or the grooming area, its a staff only area, but I could see into the areas and the dogs were all happy, no howling or crying and there were staff in the area at all times. We have boarded our dog for 10 days at their last facility a few years ago and were really happy with them. We got regular updates on how he was doing and when our boy came home he wasnt too traumatised which wasnt the case at one of the other facilities in Dubai.
