Best time of day to visit Burj Khalifa?

We're coming to Dubai (from Doha) for a long weekend, and I'd like to book tickets to go to the top of the tower. Any thoughts on what time of day/eve/night is the most spectacular or interesting viewing? Also, what's the best (and not crazy expensive) option for seeing the fountains? I'll be traveling with my teenage son, so not looking for fancy or romantic dining.

Thanks!

Thank you Kelly! Barbie you can get them from the website atthetop.ae There is information on there about the Burj Khalifa and also a section to buy tickets.

You can just find a nice spot outside and watch all you want.

Its a minimum spend of 200AED and for 200AED you get quite a few Mocktails or wine/beer etc, even snacks. Far better money spent than going going up to the observation deck IMHO How much is regular ticket to the observation deck?

We are going up at 5:00 on Thursday. We have guests coming in Wednesday night and we wanted to take them but I'm DEATHLY afraid of heights so this should be interesting. How do you get to the bar? DH said he wanted to have a drink at the world's tallest bar. LOL Can you get there from the observation deck? nope - the bar is completely separate and part of the armani hotel, you enter it through the hotel. you need a reservation to get in. make sure you do this as they are very strict about letting you anywhere near the place - too strict in my opinion. 971.4.8883828 [email protected]

I have been 3 times to the observation desk now and that's enough, so will enjoy the bar with the next visitors.

It's gorgeous - the same view, and you can have a sit down and a glass of vino whilst you're there!

Rachel, I think the fountains only start their displays from 6pm, but I could be wrong. Try to go to any one of the cafes overlooking the fountains at a quarter to or a quarter past the hour and for the price of a soft drink, you can have a great view of the show!

I ended up booking us for noon. Hoping it'll still be amazing, even though we obviously won't catch sunset. Our schedule is a bit crazy, and this was the only available time on the day we are free. Will go another evening to catch the fountains - I assume they're better at night? the fountain show starts only after the sunset RachelA.. we've seen that many times actually but never been At the Top yet.. we're wondering if 7 pm would be good time.. to see Dubai all lighted up! ETA.. just checked.. fountain show at 1 pm and 1:30 pm.. then 6pm onwards.. http://www.thedubaimall.com/en/entertainment/entertainment-section/the-dubai-fountain.html edited by presam12 on 19/04/2011

Once you are up you can stay as long as you want-so if there are spaces a while before sunset and you don't mind waiting I guess that might work. Otherwise maybe afternoons as it can be hazy in the mornings.

Thanks - that was a quick reply! And seems I've already waiting too long - sunset-ish times are already booked for Thur/Fri/Sat evening, and we're leaving Sunday afternoon. So that being said - morning or night? Which would you recommend?

Go up before sunset and you can stay till the sun goes down. To get a good overview of the Mall and fountains you can take a free trolley bus that runs every 15 minutes and stops for you to take photos. You can eat in the food court and just sit outside later and watch the fountains-no need to sit at a restaurant for that if you want to save money. Otherwise there are places with fountain views like California Pizza (think that is the name) that might appeal. Book your tickets early-they are in high demand on the weekends edited by wuffles on 19/04/2011
