Dragon Mart。。。。。。 Ask, although the chinese don't quite get the way we pronounce Mah Jong, they have 2 sizez, about 100-120 dhs.
OP, if you do venture into Dragonmart to get a set, since most of them are mainland Chinese, they probably understood Mandarin term better which is Ma Jiang (Mahjong in cantonese) :) HTH

Dragon Mart, from main entrance on the right side of the central lobby,go to the shops in the back where are the sporting goods. Ask, although the chinese don't quite get the way we pronounce Mah Jong, they have 2 sizez, about 100-120 dhs.
I bought one a few weeks ago in a sports shop in Karama. They had quite a few different sets. I looked and asked all round Dragonmart and Dubai Mall and couldn't find any. I don't know Karama well at all but I just parked and asked the first person I saw if they knew where a sports shop would be. Followed their directions, walked in and there they were. After months of looking for a set it almost felt surreal. If you are going to be short on time, I would go to Karama.
Sports shops in Karama def have them, so other sports shops might also stock them.
BTW if anyone wants to join a very friendly, informal group to play mah-jong, the group that play at Counter Culture, Marriott Harbour Hotel, Dubai Marina on Monday mornings 9.30 - 12.30 ish are looking to expand their number.
Has anyone seen Mahjong sets for sale in Dubai, or would anyone like to sell one that is languishing in a cupboard?
I now live in Saudi and am unable to find any here (hard to search when you can't drive) and my Mahjong group has grown from 4 people last year to a current high of 19. We are coping with two sets, but need more.
I will be in Dubai later this month for a few days, which will be my only window of opportunity for some time.
Thanks in advance.
