For bikini and brazilian wax, i'm personally a huge fan of the LYCON wax. I find it leaves your skin smoother and gets all the tiny hairs- and not mention a wee bit less painful. But that's just me. The only salon I found here that uses Lycon is Sisters at Dubai Mall (there may be more), but I like the technician there who does my wax, Savita is her name :) Pastels also use LYCON wax! I agree with you Cleo...slightly less painful and gets all the tiny hairs! That's awesome!! If pastels is cheaper- I might just try it out there too!

you can get Emla cream (anaesthetic) over the counter here.... works wonders before a wax ;) Tell me more about this cream....Anything that reduces pain interests me!

Hi Ladies, I am new to Dubai and I need some waxing done...eyebrows, bikini line. Please can anyone advise me of somewhere to go...I do not like getting the bikini line done so please advise someone who is gentle (if that is possible lol).... Thanks Pastels on Al Wasl Road - ask for Purnima! She is great and gentle!

Call Feel Pink. They come to the house and charge less than other places I think. The waxes name is Amelie or Marelie ( I've forgotten her name) she's really good!

I have an advice from a person that my skin is so sensitive, Buy tea tree oil, and have your own towel to use it after the waxing is done, you can always ask for ice cube to calm down the waxed area, have the ice inside the towel and not direct on your skin, after 10-15 min, with patting moves clean the waxed area with tap water - the wax is sticky and can irritate the area- then with gentle patting with your finger tips; apply the tea tree oil on all the waxed area... you will feel cooling once you apply it, this feeling will last between 20-30 min, then leave it on over night - if you waxed in the evening, or just leave it on for 12 hrs. when you have your shower, please do not use shower jell or soup(spl?) over that area, and you can use a wash for that area only, no loofa, only with your hands, and rains it with water... this way you won't have any irritated skin, scars or whitheads pimples.... Not to forger that you need to wash very well that area before you head to the waxer/ beauty saloon as that will reduce infections, and - ahem - please use cotton knekers Good luck and remember to stretch the skin, as this reduce the pain. :D

I think they must have been prudish. Never forget when one of my friends went for a wax at a new place in London. Her normal waxer did a proper all off wax so she assumed the same at the new place. After the front was done she turned over and *ahem* spread her cheeks to help. The waxer reacted with utter horror. Whilst drowning her shame in the pub that night she kept muttering 'if the cheeks aren't spread, it's not a real brazilian.' brilliant :)

Hmmm, ok, well in the UK everywhere I went you kept your knickers on and just pulled them to the side... also would have never been told to keep my legs open with one knee held up to my chest which has happened here before! Don't get me wrong - they're a lot more "thorough" here and thats not a bad thing, I just remember finding it shocking to begin with :) perhaps the salons I went to in the UK just had prudish waxer's! edited by kates01 on 03/03/2013 I think they must have been prudish. For a Brazilian back home I find it's the same. You "bare all" and you find your self helping the aesthetician by moving in different positions. The only difference is they use the Popsicle stick only once and get a new one with each wax application. They don't do that in many places here even though there's signs everywhere that they should.

ha ha ok beginning to think I frequented some prudish salons, though plenty of friends have commented on the same thing! (not a brazilian just a bikini wax)

Kept your knickers on for a Brazilian? I would think you'd be holding them to the side almost the entire time! Not trying to be funny, just never heard of that. Heck, my salon back home had a male waxologist. Leave all modesty at the door indeed. Now, having laser hair removal ?? That felt like I was abducted by aliens, according to the witness testimonies. I was like....seriously?.? Too bad after all that drama it didn't fully work

Some advice corinnad - I dont know where you're from but I got a real shock when I very first had a full bikini wax here in comparison to at home - definitely not for the shy! Have got used to it now but I definitely could have done with that advice before I tried it! I go to a lady at tips and toes in the media city branch who's really good If it's not asking too much information, how did you find it varied? I've had full waxes both here and the UK and it's been legs akimbo leave your dignity at the door in both places! Corinnad, aside from the Emla cream which many people say is very good-- did you know you are not supposed to go for a wax within a 10 day window prior to or after your period? (I've heard 7-10 days, but I try to follow the 10 day, myself). It's extra painful. Sometimes you can't help it, but I'm here to tell you after making the mistake once, if I can help it, I never will again!! Kates, that's funny...I think they are much more...er, what's the word...delicate over here? Certainly was a search finding a good one! Not a fun one, either!
