If you don't want to buy fakes and want the real thing, I highly recommend www.theoutnet.com; lots of personal experience and a wardrobe full of bags only two of which are fakes! They ship here

some of you may laugh... but what's primark? back home you can get bags for cheaper. I paid $90 canadian for each of my coach purses. I do have a few fakes. When you go into the shops you ask if they have some really nice ones and up the stairs you go. As for quality my mom and I have had LV bags from France (when they didn't crack down on all the fakes). Lets' just say my bro in law and a LV dealer couldnt tell the difference between them and the real ones.

Buying fake is breaking the law and you could be in for a shock if you travel through Europe with a fake bag. Furthermore it's just plain tacky! ETA like a girl I know who dresses head to toe in primark and carries a "birken" Who is she kidding?! edited by llyc1 on 25/05/2011 FYI - I shop at the likes of Primark but buy designer bags(authentic). I spend days coloring, playing playdoh, sitting in the floor or a sandbox, getting sticky fingers full of god knows what wiped in me from my LO. My clothes are washed after every wear and shoved in a tumble dryer...why would I want to fork over loads of $$ on designer clothes, only to see in ruined. Primark suits me just fine. A bag is something completely different...IMHO.

Tacky is a very subjective word. One might say that ostentatious shows of wealth by sporting genuine (whatever that means; are 'fake' bags made out of fresh air?) or otherwise luxury items is tacky. Some might say that feeling superior because you are able to afford something that others aren't able to is tacky. Others might say that calling others tacky and looking down your nose at them for wearing Primark is tacky. See? Very subjective indeed............ Just as an aside, but I really would not be able to price anyone's clothing if you paid me a million dollars. Of course, now that I know there are people here in Dubai that can and do I am sort of rethinking my budget and switching funds over from possible designer bags to designer clothing....ee gads!

Buying fake is breaking the law and you could be in for a shock if you travel through Europe with a fake bag. Furthermore it's just plain tacky! Well if the bags these ladies are talking about are as good as they say I find it fairy difficult to imagine being stopped at an EU border because of my handbag. Actually, even if it were a very poor fake it would be hard to imagine. NYC is known as fake bag heaven and there would be a riot if someone was stopped for carrying a bag they bought in chinatown, even though we too have the same merchandise copyright laws. Tacky? I don't know. I could afford to buy designer bags if they were things I coveted, but if I liked a bag and I could find one that was geuine leather that looked just like it for 700dhs as oppoes to 4,000USD I don't see the harm. I wouldn't pretend it was real of course, but then I guess its all a matter of opinion! :-)

One advise is to google for the real branded bags, I checked for LV, they put every tiny bit of details about the bags with pics from zipper to leather so u can know how the original looks Like Also I got LV sunglasses for around 80 dhs (I'm not that good in bargaining), actually it's very nice and the glasses are clear Wow that is great advice! Be careful about sunglasses though. If the lenses are not good quality (UV prove or what you have), they could actually harm your eyes and you may not feel it.

Do the fakes last well or fall apart after a few outings? 600dhs is still a lot to pay if the quality isn't good.

Makes you think: 1. Who in the world is willing to pay full price to get a real designer bag when a fake is every bit as real? 2. Why assume anyone is carrying a real one afterall then?;) I admit when I see a nice bag, first thing comes to my mind is 'real or fake?' I just can't help it. I will admit to being in the group that actually bought real ones, but now I can say it was really just ignorance. As I said in an earlier thread I don't know anything about handbags and so if you are fearful you just go with one you like and attach your money to a brand. Now that I know there are alternatives..well forget it never again. Thank you ladies

Mmm I don’t want to get the guys in trouble ..... I will try to give you directions in code. If you park in the section that sounds like tangerine, if the tangerine shop is directly in front of you, you need to turn left, carry on walking until you see a gap in the shops on your right. The secret shop is at the back of there in an apartment on the opposite side of the road. I just asked one of the guys to take me to the apartment. You will know if you’re in the right place as the apartment shop is really nice and they’re only selling LV and Hermes. oops :) and i am terrible with puzzles. would try to crack it. :)

I brought quite a few as gifts for people at home, he didn’t really budge on the price of the Hermes bags but I got the plastic LV bags for 300 dhs each (and these really are identical to the real thing) he also gave me 5 pandora bracelets FOC.

Great! Thanks Tally-ho, I now know how much I'd expect to pay for a 'decent' one! Did they start much higher and you bargained?

I have a question about how real the fakes look? I know nothing about handbags - real or imagined - so I thought I woudl ask the experts here - can you tell? Or maybe the question is: if you put the really good fakes you have bought next to the real thing what would be the differences you could spot? Thanks! I really wanted a taupe birkin but Hermes have sold out of all bags at the mo, so I went to Karama a few weeks ago and found one. It is almost identical to the real thing, no one would know by looking at it even if you hold a real one up next to a fake you have to really look closely to see the slight difference in leather quality. How much did you pay in Karama Tally-ho? I paid about 700dhs for the one I got. There were cheaper Hermes bags but the quality wasn’t as good. I also went to a secret room in an apartment, it looked like a boutique shop I was amazed at how nicely they’d done it up.

Sorry to butt in... but is Karama only about handbags or do they sell any other fake merchandise there eg jewellery, watches, other accessories, shoes or clothes? Yes they sell those things too.

It's a no brainer really. My friend pad over 4000 pounds for her Birkins (she has two and that's 4000 pounds each). Mine was 600 dhs! Better to go to Karama in the evening...I think it's difficult to get access to the secret rooms in the day becasue of the raids. The shop I go to has just opened a second secret room so some must be doing ok That is great Suze, sorry, which store name is this? Or where is it? Thanks in advance!
