Why are people answering this? The OP's question is pointless............what machine do you have? How often do you wash ? What is your bill? The latter does not correlate to the first two at all! It makes no sense!

True. We were away all of July and our bill was the same. No difference however I cant be bothered going to Dewa and showing them what cheaters they are. Our bill is always more in the summer when we are away. I sometimes wonder if the maid deliberately uses more water & has the ac on full blast....

Ours is like 3k a month. 6k in summer. 4 bed villa, one bedroom downstairs used as a study. I'm sure there is a problem but DH says not. Aircon is kept on 28 in all rooms except when we are using rooms when we put it on 25. At night we have the bedroom on 22. We have a Siemens washer/dryer and do maybe 3 loads a week. If you want to look into machines then check the Which guide (or similar) for those that are A+++ rated for energy and have a low water cycle. It will be very difficult to do a survey based on peoples DEWA bills, being that properties and family sizes are all different and washing is but a small amount of total consumption.

I agree with Lolacat. I once tried hard to reduce our dewa bill for a whole month but there was no impact at all on the final bill amount - usually AED750.

This is as helpful as a dose of bedbugs but i have truly come to the conclusion it really does not matter what you do when it comes to elec/water bills (within reason). Every summer without fail ours are higher yet usage non existent. In answer to your question i wash everyday and use a dryer. I bought LG, why because i have found the servicing from LG excellent compared to other brands. Most modern appliances here are A rated nowadays, the more you pay for a good brand - long term will benefit you. ie my washer has quick wash and works it all out and does what it wants. There is no direct correlation between my usage to bill that i can find, ironic i know.

dhs520 per month. 2 bed apartment. Majority of amount is housing fee not electricity and water. Electricity being the highest of the two. I wash 4 times a week. Messy toddlers. Automatic washing machine. When I had a frontloader bill was dhs470.

DEWA operates a slab tariff (the rate you pay increases in bands with the amount you use) but they do not have different peak and off peak rates. The DEWA adverts tell you to wash during off peak times and even gives you the specific hours... Can you give a link for this? If it is this http://www.dewa.gov.ae/community/conservation/ydc/savepower.aspx then they don't say that you pay less...................they are merely encouraging you to use less at maximum times!

On another perspective.... SEWA 1 washing load daily 1 small irrigation on twice a day for a few minutes only each time 4 member family Some rooms AC on from 8am until 10pm. Our last monthly bill was AED4,286 We lived in Sharjah for a short time and found the utilities there so high compared with Dubai. Alain Girl - that is a huge bill!!!! Please tell me about it - I nearly died when DH told me. We do not live in a particular large house and keep electricity to an absolute minimum ie. lights switched off when not used, televisions switched off when not in use, AC not necessarily overused but I thought at one point, we were supplying electricity to the LL's mothers house directly behind us! Thank goodness we are moving to Dubai next week. We complained about our bills without success. We lived in a small two bedroom apt and were away Moët of the time and still a bill of 1,000+ every month! What you save on electricity etc you can spend on the extra rent to live in Dubai ? Exactly AND the horrendous wasted time in traffic!!!

My rule of thumb in an apartment where AC is included is AED 150 per person (plus housing fee which varies according to the rent). That includes lots of washing, dishwasher on at least once a day, 2 water heaters on 24/7 in the winter, TV on most of the day (DH works from home), all electric cooking.

My Dewa bill is about 900 per month. Laundry only once a week. 3 loads. Mostly done in the evenings. All my light bulbs are energy saving and my AC thermometers turn off when the termp is reached. 4 bedroom villa. No irrigation in the yard.

hi Jesspass I live on my own and probably do 3 loads a week. My monthly DEWA bill for a big 2 bed apt is 440aed. (262aed of that is housing fee) so just 140aed for water and leccy. I tend to do my washing earlier in the morning or in the evening when its not peak times. I am also very frugal on water as my pet hate is people who waste water. I also dont leave lights on around the house when not in use as its a waste of energy Hope that helps
