My friend wants to start her own shoe business here and was wondering what is the most popular shoe size for women.

I'm a size 41 and it appears from reading this thread that I'm not alone! I usually find my size, no problem. Especially at sales time.

size 42 European. I have REAL difficulty finding shoes and would appreciate knowing where other people buy theirs. I usually wait until I take a trip to Europe to guarantee getting my size. Am sick of being giggled at by tiny sales assistants who clearly have no idea about my frustration. edited by dishydxb on 18/12/2012

I'm a size 40 European, size 11 in Pakistan. My 8year old daughter is already a size 37 - it is so difficult to find suitable, appropriate shoes for an 8year old in an adult shoe (no high heels, fancy bling etc). Children's shoes stop at 36 - I haven't found any store - expensive or cheap - that stocks any larger. Perhaps this is an area which your friend could look into. I have seen this problem mentioned so many times on this forum. DD was also a large shoe size even when she was little. I have always found Marks & Spencers girls shoes usually go to a 40. Ecco have some 'decent' shoes too, which look nice and are good for the feet, as well as Clarks. I have even resorted to buying online for her, but unfortunately Clarks in the UK would not let me buy kids shoes as they have a policy that childrens feet must be measured before sales.

This is a great thread! :-P Now we know who has big or small feet to add to the things people have in their trolley to identify themselves!! I bet someone here is keeping a spreadsheet ~!~~ but will it all get controversial? :-P :\:

My friend wants to start her own shoe business here and was wondering what is the most popular shoe size for women. Is he aware the worlds biggest shoe shop in Dubai Mall has recently opened? What sort of shoes does he want to stock? Which market, high end, middle, low end? Heels or not? Shoes for big feet appear to be a problem here but is that market big enough to sustain a shop and stock? Many nationalities here have smaller feet (not so tall) and this market seems well catered for across the price spectrum. How is his shoe shop going to be different to the hundreds of shoe shops here?

Also have real trouble finding a decent pair of shoes that are also 'fashionable'...am a size 41/42 as well. Think I was in Aldo few weeks back, looking for sandals or sth like that. They gave me a pair of their size 41, which just by looking at it, I knew weren't gonna fit..... Yes, ma'am, this is 41, just try! Well, I just put their size 41 next to my size 41 (Birkenstock) and the difference was at least 2 shoe sizes!! Shop assistant actually took a picture of their shoe next to mine :\:

I'm clearly a massive foot, hence the user name! I'm a 42/43, us 11, uk 8/ 8.5, and it's a nightmare getting decent shoes here or any other country (apart from the US where I would go to DSW on a regular basis, and buy what was available as opposed to what was wanted!).

Hmmm size 40-41 and that has never stopped me getting the heels of my liking, here or anywhere else. Unfortunately! *hides a box of new Louboutins deeper into the closet* For comfort, have been very pleased with my trusted Fit Flops. Getting my size in them was not a problem, either. The only real problem is getting a pair of decent sports shoes (for tennis i'm good, but otherwise). Not sure how this would help someone open a new shoe store, though… ?[url="http://zaazu.com"'>[img'>http://images.zaazu.com/img/shoes-anim-female-girl-happy-smiley-emoticon-000544-medium.gif[/img'>[/url'>

Pease ask her to stock shoes in size 42/43 I have given up trying to get shoes here. I ask shops all the time to stock bigger sizes but am told there is no call for them - really? Even shops that go up to larger sizes elsewhere do not have larger sizes here. I can't be the only one with this size.

No they just say that. They're owned by Deckers. TBH I only quoted Uggs because people will have heard of them. I actually don't own any I used to buy Simple Eco Sneaks before they went out of business, who were also owned by Deckers, hence the same sizing. The North Face also uses another sizing conversion a US 9.5 is a UK 7.5 as is Timberland. I just ask for a US 9.5 now when buying a US brand. edited by RuthM on 12/12/2012 Oh, I see. I never got into the trendy aspect of them, but found myself in an icy climate once, and the only "Brrrr!" worthy boots in my sasquatch size were UGGs. Never regretted it, I love them. Agree with Sakhifa here--how could one possibly pick a demographic like Dubai and base their stock on popular sizes--must be all over the map! How about focusing instead on styles or type of shoes based on climate as well as what's in fashion this season. Once the shoes start selling, you can base your re-orders on which size is selling the most ???

Nine west shoes i take 10 even some times I would prefer a 10.5 which usually they do not have. depending on brand I have 41 or 42. Almost impossible to find here. Nine west is the only brand where i find shoes in the price range I am looking. Aldo had couple of years back bigger sizes but seem not to stock anymore... Some times a 41 here is like a 39 back home. If I find a pair of shoes which fits and is comfortable I go back and buy a second pair only that I have shoes

This has got to be one of the worst "market reasearch" attempts ever.

Womens feet are getting bigger. I am a size 41 and get fed up of asking for my size and an assistant brings me a 39 to try. When they do this i ask for a saw as the only way they will fit is to chop my toes off??? I think they think that all women here are a clothing size 6 and have size 4 feet! Ohhh .... I'm not a 41, but oh my word, I have had so many $%&@ situations where my size is out of stock and the ruddy sales assistant brings out a SMALLER size and says: we have 39 (or 38 or whatever), ma'am! Yeah. 'Cause that's why I'm here. To, apparently, buy a smaller shoe than my actual size so I can writhe in pain with every step I take. Cheers! Thanks a lot! NOT! Grrr!

Depends on the brand. Nike US 9.5 UK 7 But with Ugg a US 9.5 is a UK 8 - random huh! So around a US 9.5 / EU 40.5 / UK 7 (unless it's an American brand that don't understand UK sizing then UK 8) I can rarely anything here over a US 9, and half sizes are impossible to find. Then they try and put me in mens, which always seem to come up bigger than the comparative women's size and they don't have one small enough! So in between mens smallest and women's biggest size - oh yay. Interesting the number of posters that are around a 39-42 size, perhaps shops here should reconsider their sizing policy.
