condiments - I mean come on, it's 2011!! Really? I often use that word to save saying to DH "can you please bring tomato sauce, bbq sauce, mustard, salt AND pepper to the table". I really love condiments, great catch-all word imo! Agreed. What other word are we supposed to be using in 2011, instead of 'condiments'?

What about leaving a word out. It seems to mainly affect South Africans, including my BIL and SIL. They leave out are. As in 'we going to the beach'. It drives me bonkers and I just want to shout at them it's ARE going!! It's just one little word that only sounds like one little letter so stop being lazy and use it!:\: I think its just your inlaws.... Im South African and dont leave out words, neither do any of my friends. No offence meant Appletiser. Obviously not all South Africans do it! My DH doesn't either, but a lot of his friends etc do. Maybe it is Western Cape slang? I don't know, but I see it on FB a lot and heard it many times this summer. Either way I still find it extremely annoying no matter who says it!

SZR Why VP? Is it the laziness? I'm just too lazy to write the whole name each time. :D :)

One I've only heard here - "for a while" meaning "wait for a while". Why do you miss out the most important word in the phrase?! SNAP! I already said that on page 2 of this thread! But was told off as it is a language 'issue' not a word thing :\:

What or huh instead of pardon. 'Pardon' is disliked by the upper class, apparently. I wonder what they say instead?

The way ppl get so worked up about this sort of thing always amuses me...i wonder how some posters manage to get through the day lolol...But i have to admit to an ad on the radio really getting on my wick - the fake (?) Australian accent man who advertises hot air balloons (i think - by the end i've usually stopped listening) and goes on about hot air coming out of someone's [i'>gob[/i'>...the way he says it grates on me soooo much..

#1) literally usually pronounced, by those who use it incorrectly, lit'TRAL'ee i.e., 'I litTRALee died when he/she said that." #2) babe unless it's referring to the *** in that movie, the movie, or quoting an archaic phrase such as 'babe in the woods', there's simply no justified utterance

People use the word traumatised for the most trivial things. A grown woman once told me that she was traumatised because she had just spent a fortune on her nails and one snapped off when she was getting into her car!!!

'bad' - when used to mean 'a lot' or 'so much', why such a negative way of saying you would really like something?

I use it when the word "you" sounds too specific.

Although I know it is "correct" (and apologies to those who use it), it makes me cringe when people say "one" rather than "you or "I"", as in ...."does one pay for parking". Sorry! I thought 'one' was reserved for Her Majesty 'One thinks it's gin o'clock' :-) One has come across it even in Dubai.
