I've never heard of it, but a friend did.

I think it needs a tiny bit of maturity to understand that a guy can be and is professional when he is doing his job. He has seen millions of hands if he is a manicurist, and would not have an erection / attempt rape just because he sees yet an other pair of hands. Same applies to male massage therapists. Or female nurses. Or female dentists with male patients. I think only young teenage girls would find these situations worth giggling or considering.

No way. Never. A guy touching my feet? Ugh. Manicure is for the hands. He will not touch your feet. Feet or hands ... No way! Facial or massage ... Never! Is it even legal? Perhaps you could find a man in the big tourist hotels but in local salons (there are male hair stylists, I know). edited by mrsb. on 01/12/2014 Where do you stand on male dentists? Long time ago I went to a male dentist once. Didn't like it, a guy poking around in my mouth even though he was wearing gloves. As long as thee are female dentists, doctors, mani pedicurists, midwives, or any profession that requires touching any part of my body ( and profession does not include marriage as I am sure you all understand) I will not have a man do it, again, unless I am dying and need urgent medical care. I agree. As long as there is a female available, I would go to her. However, if I was in an emergency, a male dentist or doctor is permissible, of course. I know my husband would be uncomfortable going to a female dentist or doctor.

My DS was delivered by a male midwife! A big Australian guy with a beard. He was amazing! I’m not quite sure I see the correlation between the[[strike'>[u'>u'> beard[/u'>[/u'>[/strike'> a qualified medical professional and a manicurist working on two different continents. But hey ho, lets run with the beard theme and hot rolling irons. edited by Lolacat on 01/12/2014 Don't you? It's quite simple really :D Oh, and this was in the UK as back then (early 80s) lots of Ozzie male nurses and midwives came to the UK for work as they were ridiculed back home for doing a "woman's job" This guy was called Adam and he was well over 6 feet with a thick bushy red beard which made him look like the wild man of Borneo!

I don't mind. Only if he is handsome....smells nice and do it gently. I just realized, its actually great feeling (even in imagination) I actually love male massage therapists.....I usually love strong massage and many women therapists are "toooo soft" for me. I like it hard   Thanks Lolacat, I take it as compliment ??

How did this thread go from male manicurists to male gynacologists? [img'>http://www.animateit.net/data/media/smiley712/smiley-happy120.gif[/img'> It's an interesting connection isn't it? What exactly does it say about posters thought patterns I wonder?

It would not bother me, I have a male hairdresser and a male dermatologist, had a male breast surgeon do a biopsy, my oldest child was delivered by a male OBGYN, I have used a male podiatrist and I am fine with it - I want the best person to do the job that I can find. I dont really care if its a man or a woman. edited by Ilovechoos on 02/12/2014

[, this is more interesting than a bearded ozzie baby deliverer [strike'>who was great[/strike'>. My second was delivered in an emergency situation by a man. Really, the only important factor was that my baby was safely delivered by the person in the mask at the business end. I really can't get all gaspy or pearl-clutchy at the fact that the person who made sure that we are both here safely today was a *whispers* man... Both my kids were delivered by a male gynae and he was fab! I had to wait ages to get an appt with a female gynae so went with him, with reservations about using a male Dr too, but he was so amazing that I willingly went back to him for my 2nd pregnancy. I then realised that I was able to get an appt because he was male (in this part of the world) because he was certainly one of the best doctors I've ever been to. I have used female gynaes as well of course and he was nicer and gentler and he was a perfectionist so I have almost no scar to talk of, following 2 c secs. If I hd a 3rd I would have no reservations going back to him. Wouldn't it be unfair if we are also told women can't do certain jobs as it will make people feel uncomfortable? edited by Ilovecandy on 02/12/2014

The last thing from your mind at that point; your pearl clutching days or sense of modesty is pretty much out the door. I have never actually met, in my life, a woman who was uncomfortable with a male doctor of any kind. I'm sure they're out there, I just haven't ever had the conversation with someone that is, I suppose.

Did they do nails? Sorry Joyce, massive divert, this is more interesting than a bearded ozzie baby deliverer [strike'>who was great[/strike'>. How does one become a mortuary Cosmo thingy? What made them want to choose the non-living? Yes, the nails are important as they are quite visible with the hands placed on the chest. Usually their are instructions left by the recently departed. Failing that, you do as the family wishes or keep things as natural as possible. They do have to be done, because skin recedes..almost like they grow, but they don't really grow. Often a funeral director, or a junior director will do posthumous cosmetics, however sometimes their spouse will do it, or they will hire from an agency if it is a particularly tricky job. The hair is usually sourced out to an agency. Beebs you have such a way with words........ Now prey tell what you were doing to know all this morbid information? :) My mother is in the industry. I also dated a mortician. I know the idea creeps a lot of people out, but I look at it from a different perspective because I have been around it from a very young age. It pays very well, there is that. You don't get any complaints, however, there is a lot of pressure to please the family and do right by the deceased. I remember going to a wake with my Grandma once, and she kept commenting how her friend was made up like a lady of the evening (her words) and said please do not let that happen to me!! It can be odd to be around, but personally, I could never be an ER or a triage nurse. I would absolutely freak around screaming, bleeding, dying people.

lol @ Lolacat, you are on fire tonight :) Hate to break it to some of you ladies...I don't know if things have changed, but almost all of the mortuary cosmetologists I worked with were men. By then, I suppose no one will care! Did they do nails? Sorry Joyce, massive divert, this is more interesting than a bearded ozzie baby deliverer [strike'>who was great[/strike'>. I have had a mani & pedi done by a man before (not here) and it was amazing. I find male hairdressers & male massage therapists are usually better also I have had masseurs and hairdressers but never come across any for mani/pedis I find the male makeup artists in MAC at home are amazing! Yes, whenever I like to have a make up lesson, I always make sure to make an appointment with a male Mac make up artist. The best.

There was an amazing podiatrist at The One and Only Royal Mirage, don't know if he is still there, his name was Bastien Gonzales. [b'>He did wonders![/b'> But what about your feet? ;)
